#1 of 9 in Outdoors in Brooklyn
Get Up and Ride Bike Tours provides a great way to experience a big city on a two-wheeled vehicle with a small (non-existent, really) carbon footprint. You'll ride in a small group at a pace slow enough to ensure an intimate and memorable sightseeing tour of one of the world's most fascinating cities. Visitors can choose from trips around Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as mountain biking excursions (half-, full-, and multi-day) across NYC and beyond. This operator also runs special events allowing riders to bring their own bikes (BYOB) and ride with other cyclists to some of the coolest destinations around the Big Apple. Check the website for more options and details about upcoming monthly BYOB rides. Get Up and Ride Bike Tours is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Brooklyn Edition.

  • I have never had four hours pass this fast! Our guide kept us safe and together (nobody left behind!) AND informed of history and neighborhood hijinks all at the same time. We experienced Williamsburg insights, live chickens, outstanding coffee, hand-painted murals, pizza, and a stop on the underground railroad. You'd need three weeks to collect this much fun and information on your own. The bikes are light, but feel tough, and the seats are divine. They gave me the perfect bike for my height (the Barbra Streisand for you other short people) and folks on the street chatted with us and the traffic just seemed to part magically as we swanned our way through the neighborhoods. I could have turned right around and done this tour again.
  • Great Brooklyn tour. May be a bit on the pricy side for what you get, but the experience is unique. Tour guide is knowledge. The biking experience is very fun and not physically straining for about 95% of the ride.
  • James was awesome!!! He did an excellent job talking about the history of New York. The bike tour was amazing, no up hill. Stopped at some local watering holes for snacks. Overall, the experience exceeded our expectations!
  • Did the Brooklyn tour with Felipe on Monday and it was just fabulous. We went all over Brooklyn and he was really great at tailoring what we saw to our interests. I loved the street art of Bushwick and the tacos of Dumbo! Also, as it was 34 degrees I was able to fulfill a childhood dream-running through a water fountain fully clothed! Felipe was extremely knowledgeable about Brooklyn and NYC and it was a pleasure to spend time with him. Don't go to Bloomingdales, Get Up and Ride!!!!
  • What a great way not only to see the heart of New York but also get to know this city! Filipe provides a fantastic tour that is exciting, fun, safe, educational and delicious! New York is such a jungle of a city, doing this tour orientated us and provided us with ideas of things to do and explore further during our stay here. It doesn't matter if you are stopping by NYC for a short or a long stay make sure to Get Up and Ride as this will make you feel like a local and make your whole trip so much more fulfilling.

Where to stay in Brooklyn

To enjoy views of the Manhattan skyline and have easy foot access to most of the borough's major attractions, stay in Brooklyn's downtown area. The borough's main tourism district, this area offers both luxurious accommodations for visitors wishing to splurge during their stay, as well as more economical lodgings for those traveling on a limited budget. If you don’t mind driving or taking the subway to most tourist sites, consider one of the neighborhoods outside Brooklyn's central area, such as Williamsburg or Prospect Park.
