Originally opened as a family "picnic" park, Lake Compounce today features three roller coaster rides and more than 40 attractions. Welcoming families since 1846, it lays claim to being the oldest continuously-operating amusement park in the United States. Make sure to check out Boulder Dash, the popular wooden coaster built into the side of a mountain. Try out the slides, the wave pool, and the lazy river of Connecticut’s largest water park for no extra charge. Refresh on the go, or rent a cabana and relax on the lounge chairs. Note that the line lengths for the rides fluctuate depending on the number of campers in the area. A visit to Lake Compounce represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bristol online trip itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

Lake Compounce Reviews
First of all, Boulder Dash needs to be the first roller coaster you ride. It's the #1 wooden coaster in the world, and it truly is. Best roller coaster I've ever ridden. They also have one of the olde... more »
Lake Compounce is well-located for most people in Connecticut and I've never had a bad experience there. I just went for the Haunted Graveyard, but managed to get in at least a few rides. I haven't be... more »
Make a detour to visit the park while on a trip to Boston and am glad we did. The park has a good variety of rides, although we were VERY disappointed that Wildcat was not open. Boulder Dash was a rea... more »
Tons of space and lovely walking areas. Oldest continuously running wooden roller coaster and one of the best rated in the USA. Reasonable priced food and drink, well trained and helpful staff. Not too crowded, the water park was clean and every ride but one was in service. It's small compared to a larger coaster park like Six Flags but tons of fun for the whole family and fills a whole day with plenty to do. Would go back again soon.
It was fun but the lines were very long. That is my favorite place next to six flags to go with family and friends. Thank you for making Lake Compounce a fun and friendly place to be. I am sure everyone else has had an awesome time there too. Minus the long lines. Thank you😆
This is a really great place to go to! Whether you go here with your family or on a senior trip, Lake Compounce is a highly recommended place. There is so much to do there! You can go on various rollercoasters, various water rides open in the summer, and various snack shacks. There are also soda fountains around the entire park. I would definitely come back here.
Too many limitations for heights. Your either too tall or too short. Sometimes you don't find out till you've waited for an hour that your kid is a fraction too short. You wait some more for a "measuring specialist" to come and confirm that your child is tall enough, by this time you've completely lost interest. One sign they measure up the next it's a problem. I've never seen more special needs children looking dejected because they were too big for a ride. Some of the "size appropriate" rides are way to intense for these guys. We went in the morning, it had showered the night before and the seats weren't even wiped down. My daughter went to get on one ride and didn't stay because she would have gotten her butt soaked from the seat. It won't be at the top of my "let's do that again" list.
I have been going to Lake Compounce since I was 5 and since then so much has changed, more rides, better service, and very well kept. The rides that they have added were a great idea because they took out some of the less safe rides and added new ones in like the took out enterprise because people were getting concussions from it and replaced it with it's newest ride phobia. The service has changed tremendously, their bathrooms are clean most of the time, the water park is cleaner and everyone is very friendly. A great place to go with kids all ages and a great day trip in Connecticut.
