Theme Park
Originally opened as a family "picnic" park, Lake Compounce today features three roller coaster rides and more than 40 attractions. Welcoming families since 1846, it lays claim to being the oldest continuously-operating amusement park in the United States. Make sure to check out Boulder Dash, the popular wooden coaster built into the side of a mountain. Try out the slides, the wave pool, and the lazy river of Connecticut’s largest water park for no extra charge. Refresh on the go, or rent a cabana and relax on the lounge chairs. Note that the line lengths for the rides fluctuate depending on the number of campers in the area. • Too many limitations for heights. Your either too tall or too short. Sometimes you don't find out till you've waited for an hour that your kid is a fraction too short. You wait some more for a "measuring specialist" to come and confirm that your child is tall enough, by this time you've completely lost interest. One sign they measure up the next it's a problem. I've never seen more special needs children looking dejected because they were too big for a ride. Some of the "size appropriate" rides are way to intense for these guys. We went in the morning, it had showered the night before and the seats weren't even wiped down. My daughter went to get on one ride and didn't stay because she would have gotten her butt soaked from the seat. It won't be at the top of my "let's do that again" list.
  • Good place to enjoy the summer. Even a good stop before work if u work evenings. Little kids park is nice for the younger children. Always a positive experience so far
  • I went to Lake Compounce for the first time today, it was nice even though I only had time for 4 rides. The free drink stands are very nice and refreshing, I was at them at least five times today. The 4 rides I went on were pretty cool, with my favorite of the 4 (Saw Mill Plunge, Pirate Ship, Revolution, and Waveswinger), my favorite was Revolution. The only problem is that the line for Saw Mill Plunge was almost an hour wait, when I got there the line was half full, and you barely even get wet. It's still a really good park though!!!
  • I love to go to Lake Compounce during the Halloween season. Their haunted Graveyard is one of the best attractions during that time of the year. Not a big soda person, but if that's your thing, then soda is available free and unlimited when you enter the park.
  • We just had such a wonderful visit here. The lines were short, the staff was friendly, the waterpark was great. All in all it was a great day for adults and kids!
