Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil

4.7
#4 of 254 in Nature in Oregon
The tallest waterfall in Oregon, and the second-tallest year-round waterfall in America, Multnomah Falls is a natural wonder imbued with Native American legend. Supposedly, the waterfall was created to woo a young princess who wanted a private place to bathe. Find the bottom of this 186 m (611 ft) icy fall after crossing the Benson Footbridge, and then continue up the trail for different views of the spectacle. After your hike, head to Multnomah Falls Lodge, a relaxing restaurant, gift shop, and information center built in 1925 from every type of rock found in Columbia Gorge. • Fortunately we arrived on a late Sunday morning before it was so crowded that they closed the parking (as frequently happens later in the day). The 600 foot falls are indeed amazing, and I’m glad we m...  more »

  • Catch a great view of the falls. The parking might be full on weekends which is when the freeway exit is closed. Be sure to check this before you arrive. Due to the fires in the area the trail was closed after the bridge, but still you see the falls from a distance. Don't expect too much or you would be disappointed.
  • Awesome place to visit. Exit 235 is very hard to get in but would recommend to try to come in before 10am or after 2 pm since there are more spots around that time or get the shuttle from rooster rock state park for $5. Its has two sport to see the falls with a very incredible view. If you are lucky you could see some salmon in the river.
  • Multnomah falls is awesome. This is my second time here and I intended to walk all of the trails but they were closed due to fires in the area destroying trails, so if you’re here for a ton of hiking now is not the time. Regardless of that it’s still an awesome view. You can still walk to the main bridge to see the falls, but beyond that it’s closed.
  • Beautiful and serene. If you go to multnomah falls I also recommend going to some of the other nearby falls because of how gorgeous the area is. Although I did not get to get super close as an area was closed because of the rampant fires.
  • One of the main falls Oregon is famous for. It’s crowded most days and there are A lot of other waterfalls that close by that are not as crowded. But this one is beautiful and takes some effort to get there. But you have A beautiful view of if you just get to the gift house
