Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil

4.7
#4 of 153 in Nature in Oregon
The tallest waterfall in Oregon, and the second-tallest year-round waterfall in America, Multnomah Falls is a natural wonder imbued with Native American legend. Supposedly, the waterfall was created to woo a young princess who wanted a private place to bathe. Find the bottom of this 186 m (611 ft) icy fall after crossing the Benson Footbridge, and then continue up the trail for different views of the spectacle. After your hike, head to Multnomah Falls Lodge, a relaxing restaurant, gift shop, and information center built in 1925 from every type of rock found in Columbia Gorge. • It might have been closed for up close viewing for safety sake, but that or the cold rainy day didn’t stop throngs of people pouring thru to see and hear the cascading water. The parking is easy, well...  more »

  • The entire drive along this road is amazing! We drove along the Columbia river gorge on Mothers Day a couple years back and were blown away by the number of waterfalls. Be forewarned of the crowds though. If you are hoping for photo of just your family, be prepared to have some "extended" family in the shot...well worth the crowds though!
  • This place is beautiful. Been here 7 times since I been in been in Oregon. Coming from new York I marvel at it.. It was closed off due to rocks slides. But a great drive and visit during our sunny December days.. A fav
  • Due to the devastating fire in the gorge this past fall, the lower viewing platform and trails around Multnomah Falls are currently closed and will stay closed until the area can be deemed safe for visitors and hikers. They are hoping to reopen in early 2018. You can still see the falls but the views are obscured. The gift shop and restaurant are still open though, and even though you can't enjoy everything this attraction has to offer, I think it's still worth a short visit if you're in the area!
  • The falls are pretty, however that's it for nice reviews. Traffic is a disaster. I've been here twice and will not return. Both times it was horrendous, second time was a week day. Terrible. You'll spend hours.... hours stopped, waiting. Waiting. Waiting. The pictures you see online of this place, better than in person because you don't have to wait to TRY to find a parking place. Not worth the traffic or the wait. There's other waterfalls in the United States. Go see those. Most of which have a lot less stress to get to.
  • Beautiful waterfalls and forest along the Columbia River. The trails aren't difficult. The crowds weren't terrible, both times I've visited.
