Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil

4.7
#4 of 209 in Nature in Oregon
The tallest waterfall in Oregon, and the second-tallest year-round waterfall in America, Multnomah Falls is a natural wonder imbued with Native American legend. Supposedly, the waterfall was created to woo a young princess who wanted a private place to bathe. Find the bottom of this 186 m (611 ft) icy fall after crossing the Benson Footbridge, and then continue up the trail for different views of the spectacle. After your hike, head to Multnomah Falls Lodge, a relaxing restaurant, gift shop, and information center built in 1925 from every type of rock found in Columbia Gorge. • An amazing natural wonder! I recommend going when it's warm! I think the best view is during sunsets and sunrises! Has a very nice gift shop as well. Definitely a must see attraction!
  • I'd give 5 stars, but when we went... they had fences and construction equipment everywhere. Blocking you from actually getting to the falls. Otherwise, it's beautiful!!
  • Nice view. Both upper and lower falls are beautiful. There is coffee shop down at the enterance that closes by 5pm. Only thing is that you need to park vehicle Half miles opposite side of the freeway and then walk till the main view, which is pretty close and enjoyable.
  • Whether a strong flow from snow melt or rain fall, or a misty veil during drier times, the 620 foot upper falls remains beautiful and refreshing. Hoards of tourists do not diminish the falls charm. For a unique perspective, take trail 441 up to the observation platform at the top of the falls. Be prepared for steep and 900 feet of grade in a long mile. The creek above is particularly scenic too.
  • Unfortunately due to fire we could only view from as close as visitor center. But it was still a beautiful view. And the fudge at the snack shop was the best I have ever had.
