Brewster Ladies' Library, Brewster
(5/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
In 1852, when Brewster was flourishing with the wealth of homecoming sea captains and the vigor of many small businesses, the Brewster Ladies' Library came into being. Two young ladies, Sarah Augusta Mayo and Mary Louise Cobb, with several friends, engaged in the ambitious project of raising money to provide a library for the town. They were successful, and established a shelf of books at the home of Captain Mayo on Main Street. This library opened January 29, 1853.

  • This is a great library. Has a great stock of books to borrow plus a room for books for sale. Staff is helpful. Also they have a magazine recycle bin where you can take and leave magazines. I've always had a lovely time at this library.
  • This library is small and has a homey feel. They have book sales in the basement where you can get lost. It's a great place to spend rainy days, and you don't have to be a resident to get a library card. Computer use is limited.
