Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Brecksville

(4.4/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Cuyahoga Valley National Park follows the Cuyahoga River, allowing visitors to hike or bike one of the many trails that showcase the region's waterfalls, old canals, and forests. The Towpath Trail runs 33.5 km (21 mi) along ravines and past craggy boulders. As you pass what look like typical farms, you'll discover that sections along the trails are recreated 19th- and early 20th-century farmland growing crops from these eras. You'll see several city parks included in the protected lands, many of which have concert and event venues. To tour the park while saving your feet, consider a ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Facilities are available at either end of the trails, and a few restaurants and markets offer refreshments, but be sure to bring enough water for hike. • This review is actually in reference to the Cuyahoga Railroad. We have taken two trips with our boys on the RR. We did the day out with Thomas, and the Polar Express. Both were nice events. The Polar express being a truly fun experience for our kids. Day out with Thomas was a little bit boring for them, but still nice. Polar express though is well run, and so much fun. It's definitely something that I would be willing to make the trip from Pittsburgh to Ohio every year to enjoy that experience with my family
  • What a gem we have in Northeast Ohio! Always a pleasure to drive through this area! Lots of great multi use and hiking trails and places to explore or just relax at one of the picnic areas!
  • I love this park system that surrounds Cleveland. It's a perfect blending of city life, suburban life and nature. I can connect with Mother Earth without driving miles away from the creature comforts of the city. I have visited 2 parks so far and will be visiting the others as time permits. Cuyahoga Valley National Parks should be the template which all cities use to revitalize and expand upon.
  • A beautiful place to bike and hike with many ranger led activities. Pea gravel and asphalt main Towpath trail may not be suited for high end racing style bikes. Many well maintained hiking trails thru a wide variety of terrains. Park rangers are accessible and knowledgeable. Some camping and over night stay places available in park.
  • Great park, however if you can't find trails using Google maps or if the park and bike trails is not on google maps or website for instance east rim trail can't find it don't know where to connect how will an amateur or someone who wants to explore the park how will they find. Very poor job.
