  • This is a great cavern. There are lots of formations in it and it's very nice and well kept. The tour takes about 50 minutes and has a lot of great info. The number of steps up and down are quite doable. And there are places on the way up to stop and rest. There is a nice little play area outside it and a great mini golf course as well. It's a really nice little area. The gift shop is very nice. There's tons of minerals, plush animals, that type of thing. There are also nice restrooms there. We will definitely be going back.
  • Very nice tour of the cave with a knowledgeable tour guide who really pays attention to you and answers questions- allows you to use his flashlight etc. I have never toured a cave before so I never had thought about bringing my own flashlight and wish I would have. There are many opportunities to shine your flashlight in holes and crevices of the cave.. cell phone flash lights are not as bright as they seem and didn't really work! I definitely know more about caves now than I did before and would recommend this to anyone. Good viewing area you can climb up on the nature trail to really see the mountains. Worth walking it is not very far.
  • This is an awesome cavern. I've been to quite a few and what I loved about it-besides the history was I felt like I could breathe good in it. Not so clastrophbic like some others I've been to. My 6 year old and I did fine on the stairs. I'm not in great shape- but was able to go up 100 ft with ease. The best part was the rock sifting outside!! We had so much fun doing it, we bought another bag (I recommend the emerald bag). The gift shop had a lot of really cool things too!! I would definitely recommend this cavern on your trip!!
  • Another AMAZING Missouri cave! Beautiful, spectacular, fantastic... great gift shop, too. BUT.....not the least bit accessible. At all. Dozens of flights of concrete stairs. I'm personally afraid of heights, so it was more than a little unnerving descending the damp, sometimes slick, concrete stairs while also hoping my kids, MIL, niece didn't tumble down to the bottom (this is what a person with a fear of heights worries about). It was very much worth the trek, and I was much less stressed on the way back up. Wear really good shoes (no Crocs), and seriously, don't underestimate the physicality required of this particular cave tour. People with heart issues or mobility challenges will want to look for another cave. Beautiful gift shop with something for all budgets (kids too). There is a water wheel feature with a sluice trough and screened sluice boxes... different size / price bags with various contents can be purchased in the gift shop and "mined" out front. Lots of fun, and everyone left with a bag of treasure. There was also a mini / putt-putt golf course on site, (I assume for an extra fee), but we were there too close to closing to give it a try. Really fun family outing!
  • It was $18 to take the tour but it's worth it. Chuck was our guide and he was funny and very knowledgeable. You can tell he loves his job. They also have nature trails with a observation tower you can walk up. Got some beautiful pictures and had fun!
