I know several people are not fond of Lake Manatee State Park, but it's for relaxing and getting away from things for awhile. I camp many of the state parks and they all have plus and minus'. LMSP is ...  more »

Low season so all time for us. Because of the high water level less animals, but beautiful nature.

This is a pretty Park on a fresh water lake with decent fishing. There is a swim area as well as a few rugged hiking trails. Worth a trip as there is no fee to enter. There is a small camping area. Bring a camera and catch the abundant wildlife as you explore.

Showers and restrooms were nice. Sites were private with woods between. Was a little far from the beach.

If you're looking to get in touch with "real" Florida, this is a great park to do it. plenty of natural flora and fauna, make you feel like you could be hacking your way through the Florida bush, like early settlers or native peoples. Lots of good trails, some nice places to sit and have a picnic if you're so inclined. Be sure to bring bug spray.

Fun place to camp. Bathroom facilities were very clean on daily basis. Not much to do outside of walking the trails that outline the campsites and canoe in the lake. Very close to Bradenton motor sports park, so if you don't like the sound of drag races you might want to verify there aren't any events the nights you plan on staying.

Great fishing on the lake and on the river. Peace and quite for camping or for taking a swim in the lake. Aligators are not a real problem here but they are around. Excellent place to rest and relax away from the city.
