Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark Reviews
My husband and I went with some of our friends and we all had a blast! There are things for everyone from a lazy river, to basketball to a terrifying slide! I would go back again. Check after 2 becaus... more »
Actually, one of the biggest pluses for me was that my young people were old enough not to have to be accompanied by an adult! (11 and up) Picked up after a little more than three hours; my 12 year ol... more »
I was a little apprehensive about going to an indoor water park. I always picture them being dirty and grungy. We live very close to Michigan’s Adventure water park and have season passes there where ... more »
Positive: Water park is clean, pretty cool water rides, life guards are watching really good, pizza and wings good, arcade was fun, outside heated pool and large hot tubes, we stayed in cabins and it was awesome, staff super nice, grocery store about 6 miles in town. Over all super nice and fun for half the price of other parks. Negative: Water park is a little small, lazy river is a little to small for my liking, surfing water ride was down all three days, two hot tubes indoors had too much chemical in it. Listen, if you and the family have never been...It's a must. I well be coming back.
It is a nice indoor water park with 4 nice slides and a a lazy river. It has two pools, one of which is for younger kids. Lot of life guards on duty. The staff is very friendly. The adults can get a chaperone pass for $10 if they don't want to go in water.
***customer service review only*** Trying to get a straight answer out of reservations and the reservation manager is like talking to wall. They may "have been there for 5yrs" but its because it took them that long to answer a simple question... how do I buy a stay as a gift for someone... Short awnser a gift card from boyne country sports... They had to put me on hold and ask a million questions twice with a spin to sell some outrageous package.... Don't call in the evening only call during the day.
Positive: Staff incredible, gracious, helpful regardless of being understaffed at Kiosk, one person there most of day but still smiling; Most lifeguards engaged with guests; Ability to buy passes online, receiving family deal; Day passes offered; Local getaway experience; Family changing rooms/bathrooms; Children had fantastic time, all smiles; Variety of water activities; guests were pleasant and it was busy; Close to Boyne City for better variety of meal options; All kids agreed it was more fun than Great Wolf Lodge in TC and cannot wait to return! Negative: Bathrooms unkept; "Snack Shack" offerings unhealthy and expensive; Discovered questionable item at bottom of little kids pool; It was cold, kids spent a lot of time in hot tub and they shook & shivered trying to enjoy other attractions so we spent less time on other rides; Building had peeling paint, lack of upkeep, maintanece issues; A concern with water parks in general when patronizing is environmental and health impact of business, chlorine use, there has to be a better way to be more sustainable and less toxic?
The water park was fun for the kids but I was very disappointed with the lack of customer service. Our 11 year old uses a wheelchair and we were glad to hear they had lifts for the pool. No one offered to help and at one point a life guard watched as my husband carried and handed her over the edge of the pool to me, another watched as he had to lift her out (right next to the chair lift) Another parent showed more care and concern than they did. The hot tub that had the chair lift was roped off so we only had a small area in one pool for her to use. Snack bar took over an hour to make a cheese burger and cheese sticks and they were cold when we got them. Spent over $40 for a cold lunch that took almost an hour. I wanted to give them only 1 star but the kids did have fun and they didn't notice the lack of customer service, building in need of maintenance, or the struggle we had with the lack of handicap accomodiations.
