Spiral Jetty Reviews
Over the years, it has become easier and easier to venture out to see Robert Smithson's 1970 land art work called Spiral Jetty. Now it shows up on most devices which should not take away from taking t... more »
Don't miss this point when you visit Utah.Amazing! When you walk along the artwork, the salt stone under your feet, the feeling is interesting. more »
Utah is a beautiful state, from the high Wasatch and Uinta mountains to the red rock deserts and home to the mighty five National Parks. The Great Salt Lake would not be at the top of a visitor's list... more »
Long dusty road to get here. Typical minimally maintained dirt road. We saw a herd of wild horses along the way and watched the east mountain burn due to a fire. If you don't mind the smell, you can walk in the water all around this place. You will need to traverse a rocky and steep hill to get to it. Not wheelchair or labored walker friendly.
It's not under water right now and the salt flats are fun to walk around on. There's also a good view down I it from the hill side. Whatever you do, it'll be beautiful
Dirt road for about 20 minutes or so, but we were able to go 45mph on it. Amazing creation and not many people there. Don't be afraid to walk out in the Lake you can go pretty far with it only being about 6 inches deep and it looks like you're walking on water!
Spiral Jetty, made by Robert Smithson, is an amazing land art work at the edge of Salt Lake in Utah. Before this project, Robert had already few land art works for experimental usage. I strongly suggest the audience to do some research about it before heading here. I HAVE ONE MORE THING TO SAY! I CAME TO THIS SITE AGAIN TODAY AND I WAS BIT BY A LOT OF BUGS OR FLIES, WHICH WAS SO ANNOYING AND I COULD'T EVEN GET OUT OF THE CAR. During the drive to leave the spiral, I stopped few cars on the roads and warned them the crazy existence of the bugs. I came to this place two years ago and that was a day in June I think. It was rainy and I didn't notice any bugs. I went back to the spike place, where it has two trains before you drive to spiral jetty. I asked the person on the front desk and he smiled to me. He told me that every year this situation happens. He told me that the desert area is lack of rain and only the lake area has some humidity. He told me the areas beside the lake are wonderful bugs or flies. This situation, that you can't get out of the car because of so many bugs, will happen every year in the spring and will end in June. I hope my information can be helpful for you guys to travel here! 01:30 5.9.2017
It's nice to look at, but there is more to it - the whole trip there, through the desert and unpaved roads, adds to the experience. It definitely clears your head. The entrance fee is charged in Time and Effort rather than in money, and it's very refreshing.
