Pearl Street Mall, Boulder

4.5
The four-block pedestrian Pearl Street Mall features national chain stores, locally owned businesses, dining, musicians and street performers, and much of Boulder's nightlife. America's Foodiest Town, as Bon Appétit magazine described in 2010, can cater to all tastes. Consider visiting some of the international food restaurants, classic diners, coffee shops, wineries, and award-winning venues. Take a guided walking tour, or hop on a bus to hear folk stories about this old mining supply town. The town, with its fountains, sculptures, and gardens, offers many photography opportunities. • Having grown up near Boulder, gone to school at CU and now spending plenty of time visiting when I get a chance, Pearl Street Mall is one of a kind. Fantastic food at The Kitchen (Upstairs, Next Door and The Original), Salt, West End, Oak, and so much more with wonderful stores and unique offerings like Topo Designs, Peppercorn, and Into The Wind. I could spend hours shopping, eating and people watching. (Local Tip: Free parking can be found on many of the streets surrounding Pearl with just a couple blocks to walk to your destination so you don't always have to pay to park in a garage)
  • Charming outside mall with wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, a kite store, upscale and affordable clothing , and the famous Boulder Book Store which is a must-visit destination. Also Peppercorn, kitchen and decor emporiumIn that will delight the senses. In the summer you will find street performers that will dazzle you with their talent. My personal favorite is zip code guy who can guess your zip code no matter where you are from. Family oriented, with fun and interesting play apparatus. No cars or bicycles allowed. Gorgeous flowers adorn the entire length of of the mall. You can have a great time without spending a dime or fill your arms with packages from great stores and your belly with delicious food, all with a fabulous view of the flatirons.
  • Fun spot to walk around and window shop. Be aware though there are some really cute shops around here and you will get pulled into a couple and buy something. Peppercorn for cooking lovers is amazing and Patagonia is always spot on for any Coloradoan, not to mention stopping at kilwins or been and Jerry's for some ice cream. Great food options and shopping for whatever you may need.
  • I really love this place. It is a bit like a modern main street, with lots of shops, restaurants, people and play areas, but no cars. There are many stores that are unique and restaurants. There is also a great multi-level bookstore where it feels like you can get lost. There are also a few chain places like Starbucks, Cheesecake Factory, Earthbound, Ben and Jerrys. My favorite part is just walking around and people watching. There are plenty of places to sit in the main areas or sit on a patio while drinking a beer, etc. The one thing that is a little confusing is there are signs up that dogs aren't allowed, but there are always quite a few. So, not sure the real rule there. But, it is Boulder, where dogs are allowed almost everywhere :) You can find some street parking for free, but there is a good chance you will just pay to park in the day time. You can park for a couple hours for two and a half dollars. There is also a large pay to park garage. It is really just a nice place to wander around, let kids play, have a bite to eat, find some.interesting gifts and just watch the buskers and others wandering around too.
  • Beautiful Boulder Colorado shopping district. Unique small town shops in a lovely architectural setting with a stunning view of the Rockies as it's backdrop. A place to enjoy sipping your favorite beverage be it coffee ,wine or a craft beer, eat at one of the local establishments and find a great gift all in walking distance.

You'll find most of the pricier and more luxurious accommodations in downtown Boulder, but the city offers hotel rooms suitable for every traveler's budget. Stay in the heart of the city if you want quick access to shops and restaurants, but if you're traveling on a limited budget, consider a good value inn a short walk or bicycle ride from downtown. You can also choose to stay in Denver for a wider selection of economical hotels and motels; it's just 30 minutes southeast of Boulder.
