A multisensory experience, Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum presents one of the most important events in American history. Aboard restored ships, costumed performers reenact the Boston Tea Party's famous dumping of tea. After you've booted the tea overboard, visit an actor portraying Abigail Adams in her tearoom, where she will tell the story of husband John. Other exhibits use interactive technology to present Boston's rich history. Special events and programs, like Huzzah Tavern Night, take place on the ship throughout the year. • It is kinda corny but informative too. I’m not sorry we went but I don’t know that I would recommend it. I learned a lot about why this was such a historical event. The part about being able to dump t...  more »

  • Absolutely a great time! We went on a cold and freezing rain December day just before Christmas and still had a wonderful time. The museum is interesting if a bit sparse on actual historic items, but the active portraits and holographic actors make up for it. They do have the only remaining tea chest from the Tea Party. The period actors were thoroughly enjoyable and engaging. And Abigail's Tea Room was the perfect treat on a 33 degree day after being outside in the sleet. Spent 6 days in Boston and this was the highlight of the trip...much better than many other attractions in the city.
  • The staff was great. They worked really hard to keep the visitors interested and involved. Plus the tour was setup well with multiple stations with enough variety that our 16 month old daughter was entertained the entire hour of the tour.
  • I came here with my aunt and uncle who were visiting from New York. Part of the experience is inside and part of it is outside on the boat, so I'd recommend not going in the rain like we did. However the experience overall was really fun, the cast members were really authentic and it was a fun way to learn about the Boston Tea Party. The gift shop was also awesome, had tons of tea related items which as someone who really enjoys tea I appreciated. I think the entrance fee was about $25 but there's usually a Groupon for it.
  • Pros: Outstanding immersive historical experience from beginning to end! The historical interpreters were authentic and friendly. The digital/hologram enhancements enriched the atmosphere without losing any traditional charm. The gift shop and food prices were typical of the area. Cons: Very pricey ticket ($28 for an adult) for a little over an hour's experience (for $10 more one can spend the entire day at Colonial Williamsburg and experience much, much more). We were "politely rushed" through most of the tour. There was very little time for pictures on the boat or to look at the artifacts on display. I think it would make more sense to extend the tours to 90 minutes to have more opportunities to think about and enjoy the history that was presented.
  • Reenactment of the Boston Tea Party. Staff were friendly and beautifully dressed. They were charming and knowledgeable. We had a light lunch and bottomless tea. The scones were a little dry but they were tasty nevertheless. Thanksgiving sandwich was to die for. Really great. The bottomless tea meant you could try all five types of tea that were tipped into the harbor during the protest. Our server was very knowledgeable on the subject and gave us some great context of the teas, who would be drinking them and quality tasting notes. There were fun games on the table for people to play. So one could conceivably spend a couple of hours chilling out in the atmosphere. We didn't have time to do the whole tour, but we could hear it occasionally, and it sounded like fun. Recommended.
