Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, Boston

4.5
A multisensory experience, Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum presents one of the most important events in American history. Aboard restored ships, costumed performers reenact the Boston Tea Party's famous dumping of tea. After you've booted the tea overboard, visit an actor portraying Abigail Adams in her tearoom, where she will tell the story of husband John. Other exhibits use interactive technology to present Boston's rich history. Special events and programs, like Huzzah Tavern Night, take place on the ship throughout the year. We went to the Tea Party Ships & Museum because we thought our children (11, 8 and 7) would really enjoy the visit. They did - and so did we! From the warm greeting of the friendly and patient actors ...  more »

While this may be really exciting for history buffs, the tour was a little long for my parties enjoyment. It started off with a bang, with a great re-enactment of the meeting before the "treasonous" a...  more »

I thought that 28 USD entrance fee is too much, but later on had to admit that it was worth it. Two guides in historical costumes made funny, but educative show, in which visitors were involved. I fel...  more »

The actors are very knowledgeable about all aspects of the Tea Party and the exhibits themselves are also very informative. The short movie shown at the end is well deserving of the awards it's been given. Being able to drink the kinds of tea that were thrown off the ships is a really great experience, and it's pretty cheap if you drink a lot, since it's unlimited refills. The lunch options are really good as well. The gift shop has lots of really interesting items.

This was the best $28 I ever spent. This is an interactive experience where you get to play a role in the show. If you get there when they open there is no wait. When we left there were hour or more wait times. If you want your child to have a speaking part you must sit in the pew in the front on your right side after you go through the first door (opposite the lectures). Enjoy this well done walk through history.

While the ships were interesting and fun, we were very disappointed with the cost of the event we attended. We were given postcards from someone representing the museum and were told it would cost $10 for the 7 to 9 teacher event. When we got there at 7, we were told there was miscommunication and it was actually $15. When questioned, the young lady working the ticket sales couldn't explain the problem. It wasn't her fault, so we just paid the $15. However, there were thousands of teachers given this $10 information. We should have been given that price. I'm very disappointed in how this was handled. To me, this was poor customer service.

If you have any interest history, this is a worthwhile experience. The tour is a nice mix between entertaining and engaging while still being informative, and though it has a number of distinct parts, it never drags on. Everyone in our group, including an active 8-year old, agreed that this was fun - especially when we got to "throw" tea into the harbor!

Really cool museum with a ton of great events. If you have not been, you should go! It is easy to get to, and there are a ton of things that you can do when there are there. A very well done museum that is based around some interesting American history.
