  • We had such a good time walking the Boston streets and learning about the dark history. Our guide was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and outgoing. I will be taking more Boston by Foot tours and highly recommend others try it!
  • I took the Boston History walking tour on a very cold and windy morning. The tour leader, Bob, was incredibly knowledgeable; his presentation was filled with facts and figures but it was never boring--he had numerous interesting and amusing anecdotes to liven the history and included many architectural details along the way. Whenever possible he led the group inside or to a sheltered area out of the cold wind which made it much easier to concentrate on the interesting stories he told that brought the history to life. His delivery was easy to hear, even over the noise of traffic and honks of duck boats passing by. After 50 years of living in the Boston area, I learned a lot and am eager to join another tour in the future.
  • We purchased tickets for 8 last weekend for a tour that was to take place at 1pm, meeting in Faneuil Hall. After we purchased the tickets and were trying to find Faneuil Hall, we tried contacting them by phone numerous times and there was no answer. We left several messages indicating that we were lost and were afraid we were going to miss the tour because we didn't know where to go. We arrived approximately 15 minutes after the tour started and no one was there. We tried to find an office and the security people at Faneuil Hall told us that Boston By Foot doesn't have an office. Apparently they don't answer the phone either. Two days later a rep from their company informed me that they would be refunding our $ since they hadn't answered the phone or responded to our many messages, and there has been no refund. Now she tells me that the director stated that "they fulfilled their end of the bargain" by being present at the statue in Faneuil Hall at the designated time, so there will be no refund. How obnoxious, and really bad for business. Save your money and take your tour with one of the more reputable and reliable companies.
  • Beacon Hill With a Boo, The Dark Side of Boston, Boston Under Foot... want to get a little deeper than the Freedom Trail (which they do too), guides in faux colonial get-ups, or the omnipresent "quack, quack" of the duck boats? This educational non-profit tour company delivers the most interesting, entertaining, and FUN tours I've ever been on in Boston! If architecture is your thing, there's really no other game in town. But don't worry, the history is all there too, and accurately portrayed by volunteer guides who do it solely for the love of Boston, architecture, and history rather than making up half or completely untrue stories to garner higher tips.
  • Great walking tour! My guide, Michelle, was knowledgeable and interesting; she knew where to take the group; she knew how to pull the local details out of the weave-work. This was the kind of tour typical of a good non-profit organization whose docents care about your loving and knowing the city more than they do any other agenda.
