  • My 18 and 19 year old and I passed by here and decided to give it a try. We purchased the $120 pail for the three of us to prospect. There's a reason that the pail is called the Motherlode. We walked ...  more »
  • Enjoyed this as we had to figure out how to entertain an 18 & 16 year old. In addition, we had a 3 & 4 year old to entertain. It was a great experience and kept us all busy.  more »
  • We stopped by here with our 5 and 8 year old as a last minute decision and so glad we did. The kiddos loved sifting for gems and came home with 5 large zip lock bags of semi precious/precious stones. ...  more »

  • My family visited today and I can say without a shadow of a doubt was the best one we have been to. We got the "Big Daddy" for the 4 of us and we all walked away with a bag full :). Not to mention, they meet with you afterwards and go through all of your rocks and tell you what you have as well as information about the rocks. They were very well educated. It was just a lot of fun and a great experience!
  • We went in with our three girls a few days ago. The gentlemen working there were all very friendly and helped them if they ever looked like they didn't know what they were holding. We had Trevor help us with sorting what the girls found and he was amazing with them. Called them by their names every time he spoke to them and explained each stone and what they stood for. My oldest liked that part the best. We came back in today to get their cousins something to take back home with us to NE. All in all a great visit. Thanks guys!
  • Had a great experience with our kids, we split a $30 bucket, and that was plenty for an hour or so of fun. We found a lot of great raw gems however, note that this is a "seeded" mine where global gems are added to the local granite, sand, dirt. This was what we were looking for, we wanted our kids to "find" something. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. After we finished they reviewed with us what we had found. We were afraid that the "sales pitch" would start that we should get them cut... for an extra fee, however they did not. They only said we could mail any of the gems back if we decided we wanted to get them cut. Overall fantastic experience and I recommend the Foggy Mountain Gem Mine to anyone considering a trip to the high country!
  • We found a bunch of great gems and had a good time joking with the very knowledgeable staff, clearly made of genuine rock hounds. We ordered a necklace made of some labradorite that we found and can't wait to see it finished. Definitely a fun family activity, and even a bit educational!
  • We had the best time! All the employees were super nice, so patient with the kids and the adults :)! We spent two hours sorting through treasures and the staff checked on us all the time! Very knowledgeable about the stones and I feel reasonably priced! Thanks so much for the great day!!!
