  • This looks exactly the way it did in the movie. It is privately owned now I do think there are certain times that you can get a tour. So I sugest checking the website. You can drive right up to the fe...  more »
  • The Potter Schoolhouse is an unspectacular building in the town of Bodega. The trip Advisor entry is so wrong, he says: "Bodega Bay" as the location of the school. Bodega Bay is a separate village several miles further West. I suspect that confuse many tourist places "Bodega" and "Bodega Bay". Back to Bodega and the Potter Schoolhouse. In the film, it was called "Bodega Bay School" and it stands today as then. The House of the teacher in the film, Ms. Hayworth, but no longer available in the original state. You may not be able to enter the school building because it is privately owned and reportedly lives a family named Taylor there. For me, the House from the outside looked rather uninhabited and something came down. The Windows were partially suspended or you saw a ladder or similar cozy that didn't look in any case. There is a fence in front of the House, and you can actually do much more than parking in front of the fence, get off, snap a few photos and go away again. When I was there, I was the only visitor far and wide, it was very lonely and empty. But I guess even in the high season is not very much going on here. After a few minutes, the magic is done anyway, it's already something for hardcore fans of the movie "The birds". Such fans should then of course directly continue to Bodega Bay and look at the other locations of the film.

  • We had to ask first, because the Highway 1 while through Bodega Bay, but "The birds" in bodega are school and Church from the film, are a few km away from the coast. As a kind of animation to the otherwise static film set, a number of birds of prey there revolved around school and Church. Down in Bodega Bay, there are then still "Birds Café" overlooking the Bay, came about the famously captured birds in the village.

  • I'm not sure this school is up to code, feathered vermin everywhere, creeps me out.
  • Beautiful old school house made famous from the Hitchcock movie 'The Birds'.
  • Not much information provided, but I would image the home isn't catering to tourists. Nice if you want to see The Birds filming location in person, it's a very short walk from the church.
  • Very beautifully preserved school. Please keep in mind that it is now a private residence. The owners are kind enough to not make a fuss over folks taking pictures, so please return the favor and grant them the respect they deserve. A side note… St. Theresa of Avila, the church which is also featured in the movie, as well as the Ansel Adams Work, is just beyond this property and is as beautiful as ever.
  • 'The Birds' was filmed here in 1961 - wonderfully preserved & now privately owned
