  • We played Oyster Reef a few days earlier and the greens have yet to recover...many were still growing in and were "painted" green. Decent course but we liked Olde South as it was more scenic, offered ...  more »

  • $70 to play late morning. 10 guys in the group. Cashier acted bothered by our being there - middle age, professional, men. Not a bunch of 25 year old, drunk hacks. The starter also acted bothered by our being there and interest in playing. The only customer service experience we had that was good was in the restaurant at the turn - friendly and welcoming. The course was in decent shape - greens were average. Certainly not bad, but also nothing to write home about. The biggest issue we had was their stance on playing a group of five. Typically, I would agree that's a bad idea. However, our group was keeping up with the group in front of us the entire time. We waited on every shot. Every shot! They couldn't go anywhere, either, though. So, why not combine groups and enjoy the company of one another? The ranger eventually confronts us and explains the pace of play concern and expectation the course has. The challenge with his argument? Our group of five was AHEAD of their pace of play "suggestion." He had no way to argue that. Instead, he turned to the concern their "members" would have over the perception of a group of 5 being out there. Really? Perhaps we should talk to our "members" about keeping up with the pace of place set by a group of 5 since we were ahead of their suggestion. When you bring a course $700 in greens fees, before the food and beverage, and they are ahead of the pace of play, I think a conversation with a complaining "member" is realistic to expect. We played five rounds of golf this week in HHI/Bluffton - this was worst customer service experience of them all.
  • Feel free to ignore the reviews about poor greens from this last week. Played today (7/12/16)...if you aren't from the southeast, the reality is that bermuda greens struggle sometimes in the summer. Old South's greens are the best I've played on Hilton Head this past week. Their fairways and rough are by FAR the best. I've played over 130 golf courses around the US to date and Old South Golf Links ranks in the top 5. There's a variety of holes all with a different feel. From open and windy to narrow through oaks, to target golf around the marsh. The staff are friendly, the prices are more than reasonable and the pace of play is fantastic. If you ever visit the lowcountry be sure to stop at Old South. You won't regret it.
  • Really had a good time . Just played 9 with my son. He enjoyed golf clinic earlier in the day 1030- 12pm.
  • I was greeted by a friendly staff on the backdrop, friendly staff in the pro shop, friendly staff in the restaurant with the best breakfast in town, and a beautiful golf course. I highly recommend everyone experience the Old South Golf Links
  • Took my two boys here for their first lesson while visiting the beach. Super friendly staff, great practice facilities, excellent value. Didn't play then course.
