Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, Blowing Rock
Categories: Equestrian Trails, Historic Sites, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots, Outdoor Activities
The former estate of a wealthy entrepreneur and philanthropist, Moses H. Cone Memorial Park combines lavish living with natural beauty. At the heart of the 1,416 hectare (3,500 acre) estate sits Flat Top Manor, a massive Colonial Revival-style mansion built in 1901. The manor now houses the Parkway Craft Center, which displays handmade crafts by local artists. Due to Moses Cone's interest in conservation, the estate contains large forests of white pine and hemlock hedges, as well as man-made lakes filled with bass and trout. You can explore the grounds on carriage trails which guide you through the estate; they also wind past the family cemetery and near the carriage and apple barn. Using our world travel planner, Blowing Rock attractions like Moses H. Cone Memorial Park can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

This is where we always begin our mountain trips because of the magnificent views. The vendors inside have all kinds of little trinkets and handmade crafts. It's free and gorgeous.
Great stop while on the BRP. Excellent art gallery and wonderful property. Very clean, very nice. Will visit again.
Gift shop always has local crafts. Porch looks down on a lake, you wants to sit awhile in one of the rocking chairs.
Very nice park with wonderful views and beautiful old home with local crafts for sell. This is a very nice stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are also clean bathrooms. I took the hike up to the lookout tower. The walk was through beautiful meadows and wooded areas. The view from the top of the tower is spectacular.
Loved learning the history about the Manor.. Love the view and surroundings.. Years ago used to go horse backing thru those beautiful rolling hills.. Missed a chance to see the upper level..hopefully next time I'm up I'll get to
I wasn't expecting this to be tucked away off of the blue ridge parkway. Such a beautiful place and the view of the lake is amazing. Not your average souvenir shop stocked with high end products from local artists.
My wife and I love these easy to moderate trails. Plenty of picnic spots and photo opportunities. The fire tower trail ends in a wonderful panoramic view of the high country. Be aware though, these trails are shared with horseback riders, cross country runners, and old tourists...If that's not your bag, you might ought to try another trail system.
Very popular stop along the parkway. Offers crafts, history, nature, hiking, and great views. However, the parking is very inadequate and finding a spot is usually pretty tough
