  • We go to Blowing Rock 3-4 times per year and take our 8 year old daughter to see Doc once or twice each time. We have had very good success in finding Gem's. In 2015, she found a Ruby which ground and...  more »
  • We had first visited Doc's Rocks 3 years prior (2013) with family and it stayed with us as something so memorable and FUN! We couldn't wait to go back and see what treasures we could find on our own! ...  more »

  • Checked this place out with my youngest kiddos today...ages 2, 8, and 10 and they each had a blast (and so did mom). We got a medium bucket, which I felt was very reasonably-priced and provided more than enough ore for the four of us. They each found several precious stones, including rubies, topaz, sapphires, amethysts, garnet, and lots of quartz. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and had a great time teaching the kids about their findings. Plan to come back with hubs and the oldest if we are out this way again!
  • Great people!!! Knowledgeable staff and REAL MINE ORE unlike other mines we've been to that seed their dirt. We have found rubies, sapphires, and other precious gems that we have actually been able to sell!!! My daughter loves finding the occasional fossils in the ore and I have acquired numerous rare minerals for my collection in the HUGE GIFT SHOP!! My wife loves the coffee shop and sitting at the fireplace. It is rare to find such an affordable attraction with this quality of customer service and care. AAAAAAAA+++++++
  • What a horrible experience. We drove 3.5hrs to get here. They made us feel unwelcome. 1hr before closing, they claimed they "could no longer sell us buckets" but then sold to other people. They had dogs on property that they would not keep away from my service dog, and when asked what they knew about the ADA laws, responded with nothing. The woman "helping" us was rude and acted like we were an inconvenience. Would not recommend to anyone.
  • Arrived later in the day, they wouldn't sell us more than one large bucket, despite what their policy said. Phone call and website said that they stopped selling buckets after 4:30, not that they won't sell anything but the tiny ones after 4. They lied to us on multiple accounts, the general manager was entirely rude. The resident dogs were not kept away from our service dog. The buckets were seeded to a ridiculous degree. If you have a small child and happen to be in the area... Maybe. Elsewise, spend your money somewhere else.
  • We have the most fun here! The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful. I loved the educational spin. What a fun way to learn about rocks and fossils.
