  • I stay in Edina. It was great to discover this wonderful lake and the nice trail good for few hours of hike. Got a chance to see the colors of autumn and their quiet reflection in the tranquil lake. S...  more »
  • I live 2 minutes from Hyland. That’s actually timed recently. (Accuracy in journalism). The wildlife that calls Hyland its home will often visit me in my backyard. Backyard in this case is a double en...  more »

  • Attended a wedding here. The building was a nice contemporary space. Huge and open and high ceilings. I liked that they had a buffet just for kids food. My biggest gripe was that the ceremony was outdoors and the lawn was soggy. Puddles everywhere and my shoes were soaked. I would have worn boots if I'd known. All the brand new construction and they didn't drain the landscaping properly. The skiing hill looked fun and the other amenities of the park look nice. I would like to visit and explore more soon.
  • Hylands Hills ski area is a great place for kids (or adults) to learn how to ski. If you are an accomplished skier I'd suggest going elsewhere. The runs are short & not very steep. My 5 year old can comfortably ski all of the runs. The Chalet is updated & a great place to warm up & grab something to eat/drink - cafeteria style food. You can bring your own food/drinks. There is a small paid parking lot at the base of the hill & a loading/unloading area or you can park up the road & ride a free shuttle.
  • Hyland has a great cross country ski trail where they make snow so you will always have snow in winter. They have roughly 5 miles of walking/biking trails that are paved in summer. Has canoe and paddle boat rentals as well in the summer. Lots of picnic tables, grills and Chutes and Ladders play area for kids which is pretty large.
  • Lovely park, with Richardson Nature Center being the true highlight for me. The ski area was always crowded and the service is very inconsistent. I've walked out with my questions answered and with the right gear, and I've also walked out feeling insulted and still having questions. Richardson is fantastic though. Gorgeous and great resources, including the staff.
  • Great place to ski. Very affordable. The skip work special, rental and skis for $40. The chalet is one of the nicest you will find in midwest. The hills are very small, short runs, but very well kept. The staff was great, the views are nice, you don't have to drive far being it is in Bloomington. It might be best kept secret in Metro for recreation. Great for small kids and beginners. Not so great for experienced skiers.
