  • What a great play area! My six year old grandson couldn't wait to get to the top of the climbing structure! Although I only got glimpses of him during the two hours we were there, I could tell he was so excited and happy as he climbed and discovered one surprising area after another. Amazing too, was that there were so many children of wide age ranges, and yet with so much to do and explore, everyone was having a great time. I really appreciated the fountains and clean restrooms, many picnic tables, benches, and places to sit. It was one wonderful afternoon!
  • This is an absolutely amazing park. The "chutes and ladders" play area is probably the best free kids playground in Minnesota. It has an endless amount of activities for kids from toddlers all the way up to adolescents. I'm an adult and even I had a good time on the playground "helping" the little ones. Even without the playground this park is awesome though, it has a nice visitor center that is open year round, boat rentals, hiking & biking trails that also work for cross country skiing in the winter. There are tons of picnic tables and lots of shade with open space to play. Several of the buildings and shelters are reservable. Even when it's really busy this is a great place to go with the family. There could certainly be more shaded seating space in the playground area for adults, so if it's busy you may be better off bringing your own chair. The slides can get extremely hot when it's hot and sunny outside.
  • If you have kids and are in the Minneapolis area, this place is a must. My 5 year old would rather go here than just about anywhere. And it's free! Worth more to me than the 50 bucks it cost my family of 3 to go to the zoo (which was also pretty awesome)!
  • Visiting from out of town, the granddaughters had such a wonderful time. We went back in the late afternoon it was much more pleasant, not as busy. Thank you for such a wonderful park, the locals are very blessed!
  • I visited Hyland for a wedding reception and I was very impressed with their facilities. The reception was in a huge room with high ceilings and a wall entirely filled with windows. It was absolutely gorgeous.

Where to stay in Bloomington

Most of the accommodations in Bloomington lie along Interstate 494 with easy access to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The Mall of America lies just south of the airport, so most of the hotels around the airport provide convenient access to the mall as well. Consider staying in one of the hotels on Killebrew Drive, which serves as the mall's southern border, to get away from the interstate.
