Goosenecks State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Utah, overlooking a deep meander of the San Juan River. The park is located near the southern border of the state a short distance from Mexican Hat, Utah. Millions of years ago, the Monument Upwarp forced the river to carve incised meanders over 1,000 feet (300 m) deep as the surrounding landscape slowly rose in elevation. Eroded by water, wind, frost, and gravity, this is a classic location for observing incised meanders.Make your Blanding itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.
Goosenecks State Park is largely undeveloped. Primitive campsites with picnic tables are scattered back from the edge of the cliff, and vault toilets are available. Campers are advised to bring their own water, food, and other necessary gear.
The park received International Dark Sky Park designation by The International Dark-Sky Association in March, 2021. Night photography and stargazing are popular activities because there is little light pollution due to its remoteness.
There are no developed hiking trails in the park, but the Honaker Trail, a few miles to the northwest, provides access to the San Juan River.

We got to Goosenecks State Park just before sunset to catch it going down over the horizon. There was almost no one there and it felt like we were shooting on another planet. The canyons are beautiful and the way the sun sets on the ridges is absolutely mesmerizing. I do wish we would have had more time to explore the park but if nothing else I would say this was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen during my time in Utah. It truly is breathtaking and peaceful there!

Wonderful place to Boondock for a couple of days! The staff at the gate were very friendly and happy to see you there! Thank You! The views of the canyon/Goosenecks were fabulous! I'd never seen anything like it. We were able to park near the rim and what views we had!!! The sunsets were magnificent and the "stars" were abundantly brilliant to see! You gotta stop in if you're in the area, day or night, it is a site to see.

Very small state park, which is $5.00 to enter and $10.00 to camp. We stay the night close to the edge and it was beautiful. This over looks the San Juan River, but what you see is what you get. This is all there is to the park with no service or running water so just come prepared to enjoy a night taking in spectacular views of this beautiful landscape. It's real close to Valley of the God's and the Moki Dugway.

Few places offer the breathtaking beauty and seclusion of Goosenecks. Very well maintained. The road, however, to the end of the mesa is pretty rough. We made it, slowly, in an RV. So, enjoy?

A very unique state park just at the Utah state border. It has one of the kind double horseshoe bends. Good place for overnight camping. Quite a large place to pace around and watch the sunset.
