  • I love Real Ale for their consistently excellent brews and innovative brewing. Real Ale is one of the largest craft brewers in Texas and is located in the hill country, a great place to tour. They've ...  read more »
  • Driving home from the river, we were hot and thirsty and saw the sign so in we went. We missed the free tour and the place was quite busy. One of the bartenders was less than friendly upon our arrival...  read more »
  • The facility is nice. It is on the 2nd floor but they do have a somewhat-hard-to-find-from-the-outside elevator so you don't have to take the stairs if you are unable to make it up them. We were there...  read more »
  • Hoppiness in a bottle! We had a great time on the 2016 Real Ale Ride cycling through the hills around Blanco and Kendalia. All you need is a bike, a trusted friend or two with whom to ride, a desire to climb, and a hankering for good beer!
  • Not your typical "Bud" tour. Super chill and technical. If your are a beer nerd or biology enthusiast, or have a tongue then you will enjoy your time here. Check tour times online and give yourself some time to sample a couple brews and then take your fave on the tour with you. Get a Flight of what you find interesting then do the tour. This is a true Texas gem. Beer is 5 stars and the tour is 5 stars. Venue is 5 stars. Experience was 5 stars.
  • Real Ale Brewing Co. Is one of Texas's oldest craft breweries at 20 years old. Brewing an extensive line up of many beer styles. Their flagship is the easy drinking FIREMANS 4 blonde ale. This brewery has an outstanding barrel beer program full of exotic and rare styles. Brewmasters have great freedom in following their interest in brewing with Real Ale 's brewers cut series. Great view from their tap room of the working brewery and Texas hill country. Real Ale host special events at their brewery such as an annual bicycle ride,Oktoberfest, and an annual birthday party not to be missed.
  • Amazing beers. Great location. Beautiful tasting room. Super friendly people.
  • With so many breweries in Austin, it can be tough to justify driving an hour out of town to go to one single brewery. But the trip to Real Ale is absolutely worth it. The facility is new, has plenty of parking, and the indoor tasting room is well-equipped to handle groups so you can carpool with friends. There's also some outdoor seating, which appeared to be mostly shaded throughout the afternoon. The tap offerings include all of their familiar brews that you can find in stores in addition to seasonal beers and my personal favorite... beers from the Mysterium Verum program. These barrel-aged, more experimental beers can be found in some craft beer bars in Austin and San Antonio, but they're so much more satisfying to drink in the spot where they were made. If you're making the trip, be sure to be there when a tour is going on. The guide was extremely knowledgeable on the brewing process and focused on what makes Real Ale different (as opposed to the standard "this is how you make beer" tour that you get at so many breweries). The only slight inconvenience is that there isn't food on-site or nearby, so be sure to grab a bite on the way over or bring a picnic. You'll want to sit and stay for a while, so be prepared!
