  • So much more than just a railroad museum, but the reason it is here is because of the Carson & Colorado railway. This museum is free but donations are gladly accepted. The “centerpiece” is the old SP ...  more »

  • My husband and I had gone by the signs for the Laws Railroad Museum many times during our frequent visits to Bishop but never really noticed the smaller print that said "and Historic Site". I'm not pa...  more »

  • This is a huge, amazing museum with a lot more local history than its name would imply. It's definitely not all about railroads! Original mining machinery has been lovingly restored to functionality by an amazing group of volunteers. Make sure to come there when the mining demonstrations are open; it's only available a couple times a week. If the railroad is your thing, they are extremely knowledgeable on the rail history of the Owens Valley. The huge original station is there for you to explore on the site, as is a simulated cab from a locomotive for your kids to play in.
  • What a wonderfully "preserved" place full of nostalgic things around each corner! So many old buildings that showcase different themes from the old west train days. We spent 2 hours looking at it all. The volunteers are fun and friendly. Worth seeing, especially during the many events they host.
  • Wonderful place to visit. A lot of history Donations are greatly appreciated to maintain the park and the money is used very wisely as I have seen. This is an exceptional family experience for the history of the Owens Valley .It is a must-see for your trip. Very courteous and knowledgeable people run this Museum.
  • My grandson and I visit Laws every year in June. This year we got an extra September trip in due to the celebration of engine 18. The day was perfect..from the weather to the friendly group of people (both volunteers and enthusiasts!) My grandson was thrilled to be a part of it all! And if he's happy, I'm happy! Thank you, Laws, for an amazing day!!
  • The museum is well worth the stop, as it is more than just about railroads. Their collection of information and artifacts of the valley's history is astounding. I especially liked the mine operation exhibit, as the volunteers were extremely knowledgeable about mining in the Owens Valley. I suggest giving yourself plenty of time to explore all the buildings and exhibits.
