  • This place seems to be a campsite gas and have a store and laundry. The village itself is a campsite. There is a nature trail at campsite 18. Besides that there isn't much to do.  more »
  • Well we thought we would see a village, but there is no village there. There was a convenience store, a gas station and a campground (closed). It not anything that resembled a village. It was somewhat...  more »
  • This is a primitive national park, and if you want electricity for your rig, Rio Grande Village has a small paved parking lot where you'll have to camp. If you can get by without electrical hookups, y...  more »

  • Very clean! Bathrooms were spic and span. There are some nice campsites that are private and clean. No fires allowed so bring charcoal or your campsite stove. It kept it clean but made for some very cold nights while we were there. The only place in the park with showers besides the cabins. $2 for 5 minutes so bring your quarters. The hot water started right away so at least you didn't have to wait for that. The camp store here is stocked with plenty of goods. Even chicken breast and some frozen veggies if you wanted to keep it healthy! Make your reservations 2 months in advance as it fills up quickly.
  • Beautiful campsites. We used the no hook-up sites, seemed much nicer. Facilities we're adequate. Small store nearby for groceries and such with decent WiFi. No cell reception. Great trails nearby as well.
  • They have showers and a washing machine at this camp ground. It is more family friendly. It stays about 15 degrees warmer than Chisos Basin Camp ground.
  • Very strict on the bear boxes. Had a cooler out for an hour and got a warning. We had a nice big site that could have used some maintenance. Very busy camp ground.
  • Clean camp grounds. Lots of room between sites. Bathroom clean. Utility area to wash dishes. Each spot comes with a table and food storage.

Where to stay in Big Bend National Park

To spend the night in Big Bend National Park, pitch your tent in one of three developed campgrounds or bunk down in one of the rooms or cottages at the Chisos Mountains Lodge. Of the three campgrounds, Chisos Basin, known for colorful mountain sunsets, is easiest to reach. Rio Grande Village and Cottonwood, however, provide scenic settings of their own along the Rio Grande River. A few motels lie just outside the park, but options are limited. If you need a broader range of choices, consider staying in Marfa, a two-hour drive north of the heart of the park.
