  • Great hike that even the kids can do. Nice views from the top. Kids love to climb the rocks! Just be careful, can by slippery if they are wet.  more »
  • This is a scenic loop trail that can be done by people of all ages though it's not stroller friendly...you must also have a forest adventure pass to park  more »
  • This was a great hike. It was way more than moderate for us and we took a lot of breaks but there were boulders, tree trunks, and benches on the way up. The giant rock formations at the top are really...  more »

  • Great hike. My 2 yr old made it all the way up even with snow on the ground. Had to carry her back down but she had a blast. Whole family had a good time
  • This is a great trail especially considering how convenient it is to the downtown of Big Bear. Beautiful trail, well groomed, and not too difficult. Anyone who complained about the trail not having water must have never hiked before. Unless you are expecting the chipmunks to hand you refreshments along the trail bring freaking water and snacks and you'll be good :) Climbing to the very top of castle rock takes some skill so please be advised. You can continue on the castle rock trail a while and it will dump you into road 2n86 where there are more trails that spur off. Once you hit 2n86 that's the end of the castle rock trail.
  • Great View! The trail starts at the road and it splits off into multiple directions but they all basically lead to the same place. All you have to know is to head up, it is about a 30-45 minute hike up depending on your skill level. Once you get to the top be sure to walk around the area because this hike has a lot of different view points. Pack water and a lunch for a nice picnic in the shade of the trees.
  • Fun and adventuress its hiking trail that over looks the whole community. Its only a few miles long.Great for sunrises and sunsets.Warning there is wildlife bears and other animals just like any other trail.Have fun
  • It's a short one mile hike from what i recall, but it's a pretty steep incline. So take your time and you should be fine.
