Experience a piece of Hollywood history at Greystone Mansion and Park. After a turbulent past of interchanging ownership following the murder/suicide of original owner Ned Doheny in 1929, Beverly Hills eventually ended up purchasing the estate in 1965, later converting it into a public park. Entrance into the mansion is usually closed off, but you can stroll around the park for free and admire the beautifully arranged gardens and great views of the city. If the iconic Hollywood grounds look familiar, it's probably because they've been the centerpiece of many movies and TV shows. Just keep in mind that smoking, picnicking, sports, pets, and loud music are prohibited in the area. One of the most historic mansions in California, Greystone is set on several beautiful acres in Beverly Hills. It's a park and free to enter. You may remember it from several TV shows and movies... more »
You usually get nothing for free in LA but this is 100% free & worth the time to visit, loved it, go with a guide to get the history. more »
it is a very pretty park, so well maintained, no weeds, everything is well pruned, beautiful organization around this high quality garden more »
Very hidden gem in Los Angeles. Beautiful place to go and explore. Plenty of parking and its free to visit. Lots of stairs so be aware if you have someone in your party that can't be going up and down stairs. Beautiful fountain and scenery of Los Angeles city. Pretty chill and relaxing place to visit.
One of the jewels of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. It's free, it has plenty of parking. Even the parking is free. The grounds are amazing. Just checking the list of movies and shows filmed here gives you an idea of how beautiful everything is. Everything is well-maintained. I would recommend. They do have restrooms and water fountains.
Greystone is a hidden jewel of Los Angeles. Not many visitors know about this place. It is located at an elevation right next to Beverly Hills neighborhood of LA. It is an old mansion that traded hands a few time in its heydays, and now owned by LA City and converted into a public recreation spot. The mansion is in a few levels connected by steps. Beautiful gardens are on display with water features and one can enjoy 180 degree views of LA skyline from certain vista points on the property. Just a nice place to visit with a picnic basket on a sunny day which in LA means pretty much any day. I noticed a big group of kindergarten students led around by their teacher, so the place is frequented by local schools for class outings. I did not enter the mansion, and I think there are certain days of month when inside tours of the mansion are offered for a fee per person. There was no parking fee on the big lot at the top, which was a big pleasant surprise, particularly for a city like LA. Hollywood studios often book up this place for film shooting, so better to check before making your plans.
Very beautiful gardens, no access to interior but still worth an hour to walk through the grounds. Went on a Sunday morning and had no issue with parking. Great stop if you want to drive through the hills.
Nice place to chill. When I was there they were filming a movie. Very beautiful view of LA from the hill top, and very tranquil place. Lots of fresh air and and greenery around you. definitely a great place to get away from the busy city. Well maintained and manicured plants. Be sure not to sit anywhere, as you are not supposed to lean on the structures.
