Greystone Mansion, Beverly Hills

4.4
#3 of 22 in Things to do in Beverly Hills
Historic Site Nature / Park
Experience a piece of Hollywood history at Greystone Mansion. After a turbulent past of interchanging ownership following the murder/suicide of original owner Ned Doheny in 1929, Beverly Hills eventually ended up purchasing the estate in 1965, later converting it into a public park. Entrance into the mansion is usually closed off, but you can stroll around the park for free and admire the beautifully arranged gardens and great views of the city. If the iconic Hollywood grounds look familiar, it's probably because they've been the centerpiece of many movies and TV shows. Just keep in mind that smoking, picnicking, sports, pets, and loud music are prohibited in the area. • A gorgeous place for tourists to visit. A glimpse into a crazy world of luxury in the Hollywood hills. It's also generally shockingly quiet and peaceful. A nice respite from the rest of Beverly Hills.
  • I loved this look into days gone by. We visited when the house was closed, but loved the grounds, architecture and ponds, complete with lilypads and water lilies! I would definitely go again for a concert or on a day that the house is open for tours!
  • The Greystone Mansion is one of the beautiful places you can visit in Beverly Hills. It is like the Hearst Castle of LA with beautiful grounds surrounding the mansion. You start by walking down from the parking lot which is at the top of the hill. As you walk down, you will walk through the grounds where you will see cypress lane, the pool area and the formal garden. These spots provides some great backgrounds for pictures. When you reach the mansion, you will come across the courtyard, reflecting pool, and the koi/turtle pond. Unfortunately, people are not allowed inside the mansion but you can walk around it and see a views of LA. The mansion is definitely a place to visit. Best of all it is free.
  • This murder mystery mansion turned city park is a lovely spot to visit, offering an up-close look are the grandeur of the Beverly Hills of yore. There are a number of different paths to stroll around the mansion and grounds. The mansion itself is closed to the public except for scheduled tours and events. It doesn't take more than an hour to explore the whole park and enjoy the sights. There are lots of signs saying no photography, but we were not hassled by the ranger for the few snapshots we took. The grounds are about well kept as any other city park.
  • Great for dates, unfortunately we came on a day where half of the park was closed for a private wedding event. Other than that it's a great place.
