  • The Playseum is our favorite place to take our girls (3.5 and 2). It is a place that sparks children's imagination and encourages play. It is divided up into little "city shops," with different themes such as; fire station, grocery store, restaurant, forest area with fishing for letters, basketball room, princess dress up, and Grandma's room (old-fashioned radio, clothes, toys). There is a pet shop with bunnies, birds, frogs that you can feed. An art shoppe, where you can paint unfinished wood pieces (jewelry box, car, etc). My girls' favorite area is the bakery! After story time, they love heading in to to the bakery for a fresh fruit or veggie snack. I love that I can take my girls to do a lot of the hands on things that are hard to do at home with multiple little ones, such as baking, art projects, etc. on our next trip we are going to spend some time in the "beehive" and get our nails painted or make some lip gloss! I love going to family owned businesses. The owner, Gina, pours her heart into making a place for parents to come and spend time with their children. She truly cares about her customers and is always looking for opportunities to help families. We love the Playseum and for the friendships we've made since going there!
  • Dont let the not-so-promising reviews discourage you from checking this play area out! My son (3 yrs) and my 1 yr old had a great time- first of all it is a very safe environment where kids can explore and enjoy playing in the different, very thought out stations. The owner Gina happily greeted us as we walked in & my son got right to playing as i paid. (its always good when an owner of a business is there to take care of you!) The toys are definitely "played with" (which makes sense). The playseum was clean & sanitary! My son loved the painting room best. & i loved that i didnt need to worry if he started painting on the table, because Gina made such a warm and understanding environment where kids can be kids! * This is called "be WITH me" for a reason though-- if you arent watching your kid and encouraging him/her to keep the toys inside of the designated rooms then there will be unnecessary chaos and it will be unenjoyable for everyone! * I think every kid can find something they will like here - and parents can relax & enjoy too!!
  • I read the reviews and was slightly nervous so please read if you're in the same boat. Firstly the place was hard to spot but the lady I assume is the owner said something about their sign being down so I assume that's temporary. When the GPS says you have arrived, it's right there under the parvizian sign through a set of doors and down the stairs. There are small signs on the door so when walking it's easy to spot. The review photos and when first walking in it seems like the place is small but are like 10+ different small play rooms so it's actually a large space! Each room has a completely different variety of activities. Our personal favorites were the art room which has stuff for sale AND a LARGE selection of free crafting supplies. Our other favorite was the grocery store which is Safeway themed with aprons and carts, the whole shabang basically. Everything there was clearly in new and good condition at one point and now a lot of it seems thoroughly played with, most of it was an acceptable level of played with though. You can't expect brand new toys at a play area. A few toys do need to just be replaced really but there are hundreds of costumes, blocks and toys that are in good condition. The animal area was smelly but reasonably so. I've never been in a room with more than one bunny that didn't smell that way. It wasn't unbearable or anything. All the animals were lovely and feeding them was a big bonus. My biggest "issue" was actually that we got there 10 minutes after opening and most rooms weren't organized. I know most children don't clean up after themselves and parents don't enforce it even with multiple signs to please clean up, but I would expect the staff to straighten up at the end of the day or in the morning, it's hard to tell my child to clean up every area when she found it that way. All in all, the $18 to get in for two of us was too high for us to go repeatedly but the experience was good! Definitely worth the trip if you can afford $9 a person.
  • I was so excited to visit the Bethesda location after having my baby girl's 3rd party at the DC location and I invited a friend along with her daughter. Well, each room was absolutely disgusting and the bathrooms were horrible. The staff was frustrated and began arguing in front of the children plus the owner refused to share the baker's information because "they would not give her a discount". The experience in itself was a complete mess! The Playseum needs more staffing, improved customer service and strict sanitary sanctions.
  • I loved the idea of this place and had heard good things but we were disappointed. The place was dirty and a lot of the toys were broken. Everything was a complete mess and there didn't appear to be anyone cleaning up anything. For example most of the play food from the store area was scattered everywhere and piled up in the floor of the fire truck in the next room. The dress up clothes were nasty looking and ratty except for the costumes on display that were for sale that you could not play with. Probably will not go back, $18 for my daughter and I is too much to play in a messy basement for a few hours.
