Good walking area morning or evening. Nice views of Bay and great sunsets. Good place to run or bring your dog.
Always a lot of awesome dogs and kites. Plenty of room for flying rc planes and quad races happen here weekly. Best views of the bay. Come in spring for green grass everywhere!
It's almost always windy here, so good for kite flying. There's not a whole lot of sheltered areas here, but in a slightly more protected area, there are picnic tables which are quite popular on the weekends. Nice view of the bay and GG bridge, of course, but it also means that you're in the main line of fog when it comes in.
I've written a photo book about this place (From Trash to Treasure, look it up on amazon) and go there almost daily. The park has spectacular views and great walking paths. Also great place to fly a kite. But some negatives: stinky porta-potties, unmarked and unenforced off leash dog area, lots of deferred maintenance, few trees, heavy weeds. Nevertheless, worth the trip; bring the kids.
Awesome park for walking and bringing your dog. The trail is ideal for laps. The bay breeze is great I'd you don't mind the cool weather. Enjoyed it will be back
I am a big fan as the other reviewers seem to be. The kite festival does indeed rock, and 4th of July can be fun if the fog doesn't spoil it and you don't mind waiting two hours to get out of the marina. You don't need an activity to be there to enjoy the place though. Significantly wonderful (if usually windy) views of the bay, amazing spots to picnic, a great path to jog, and overall one of the most peaceful spots in the East Bay.
