Cacapon Resort State Park Reviews
The park was lovely, and if you are there to hike and enjoy nature this will be your thing. The food was also very tasty, and plenty of it was served - you may even keep left-overs in their kitchen! T... more »
We came for the weekend and all the trails were closed for a controlled hunt so we walked in the roads with our dogs instead. It was our only chance to go while we’re in the area, so it was disappoint... more »
My husband and I hiked the Ridge Trail loop which is rated easy to moderate. We are both in our 60's in fairly good physical condition and didn't have any trouble navigating this trail. The most sceni... more »
A friend and I enjoyed an early morning nature walk and I was very pleased to see no litter along the trails and roads. We were not sure where exactly the trail we wanted was, expect for "near the golf course" which took no time at all to find. Cacapon has signs at every single intersection so you can easily find your way to any location. The signs also feature "Park Exit" which is very helpful when navigating back out, especially after visiting multiple locations. Over all, Cacapon is a very pleasant atmosphere and one I absolutely love visiting.
The cabins are super cozy, and we love the atmosphere of the park. The food at the Lodge restaurant has really improved in recent years, and our family has consistently had delicious meals. We look forward to our trip here every year. Our only suggestion would be that the four bedroom "modern" cabins gain a covered porch. We'd love to be able to do some porch sitting out of the elements.
Beautiful surroundings but the roads need to be graded going to the view point. I'm also not a fan of the graffiti at the view point. This is coming from a guy who has spent time with his sons removing graffiti from hiking trails. My other issue was the lodge. It's dated, (not that I object to that look, but it could be so much better if it was managed by someone who needed it to be good. The staff was too lax and didn't have a problem with very informal conversations with coworkers in front of guests.
While traveling the back roads we stumbled across the park. We stayed the night, enjoying doing puzzles, and reading in the wingback chairs in the lobby. Our room was like stepping in the past, knotty pine walls and soft comfortable bed. The on site restaurant has a wonderful staff and delicious food. We would recommend this park . Indiana back road travelers.
Beautiful state park which was originally a CCC camp in the 1930s. Historic lodge building, contemporary golf course, hiking trails, picnic pavilions, lake swimming with a sandy beach, and playgrounds for kids. Rental cabins are available, as are rooms in the lodge itself. Don't miss this gorgeous gem of a State Park.
