Originally called Keystone Racetrack, it opened in November 1974 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, replacing the Liberty Bell Park Racetrack as the area's Thoroughbred track. When the track was purchased in 1984 by ITB, the racetrack received a new name, Philadelphia Park, a new turf course, and an innovative new way to wager called Phonebet.
In December 1990, the racetrack again changed hands when Greenwood Racing, Inc. (a corporation founded in 1989 by British bookmaking veterans Bob Green and Bill Hogwood) purchased the oval from ITB. Full card simulcasting was added, as well as six off-track locations called Turf Clubs, allowing race fans to watch and wager seven days a week.
Late in 1998, Greenwood joined with fellow Pennsylvania corporation, Penn National Gaming, Inc., in expanding into New Jersey with the purchase of Freehold Raceway in Freehold Borough, New Jersey and the operating lease of Garden State Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The new partnership, called Pennwood, was expected to pursue off-track and account wagering in the Garden State. Garden State Park closed in 2002, and was razed shortly thereafter. Simulcasting on cable broadcasting systems (notably those owned by Comcast) was discontinued in March 2010, and shortly replaced by Comcast with TVG Network, who later joined with Harrah's Chester to bring their own simulcasting betting accounts in October 2010.

Racist security and table game mangers, workers, pitt boss. Young unprofessional racist workers. They need to get the orginal professional non racist workers back.

Nothing like the experience of live horse racing. Parx does it right. Any time they have the events I try my best to be there. Great family fun. So many activities for the kids...pony rides, face painting, playground and more. Live music or a DJ keeps things festive. And of course the horses. Not the best at betting but it's fun and you only have to bet a couple dollars per race. This is definitely something you need to attend
Came here for the horse races and basset hound racing! Such an amazing, fun day! We will definitely be coming back. We brought our own food and snacks and hung out by the tracks. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice local track for enjoying a day of thoroughbred horseracing. They offer a picnic grove for outdoor seating that includes a playground for the kids.
This was my first time watching a horse race & I loved it. The staff is friendly & helpful. They have plenty of seating & the view on that day was beautiful. I loved being able to see the horses up close. You don't have to gamble to enjoy the track. I plan on going back in the fall so I can spend the afternoon there
I love horses and today I had the chance to bring my 93 yr. old mother along because of her love for horses also. They are beautiful creatures. My sister and brother in law were both in attendance. First time for all of us. A fun time had by all. And yes we intend to return again.
