  • Trails are in great shape, the landscape is lovely with lots of forest, creeks, meadows and wildflowers, and it's not too crowded like Horsetooth Open Space or RMNP.  more »
  • We went to Lory State Park over the Thanksgiving day holiday. We hiked down to the Horsetooth Reservoir, which was very easy. There are harder hikes into the foothills.  more »
  • I kind of want to give Lory a rating of 1, just so more people don't show up. But then I'd be lying and I hate the burden of guilt. This place is phenomenal for hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimm...  more »

  • Beautiful park with several hiking options. Tons of geological and botanical specimens to study and photograph. Great place to share with visitors, too. Bring extra water if you do Arthur's Rock in the heat. Watch for rattlesnakes! We've seen two on trail in the last year.
  • Lory State Park is the less visited of the two mountain parks in the area. Its multiple parking spots, camping, hunting, hiking, and mountain biking options make it easier to maneuver through during the summer months. It is north of Horsetooth Mountain Park and connected through a series of trails. There are easy to difficult trails for hiking adding a level of diversity for explorers. I use these trails for trail running year round. Sitting on the northern edge of the foothills, there is not as much snow in the winter and cooler temperatures than nearby Fort Collins in the summer. There is also access to Horsetooth Reservoir inside the parking allowing visitors to take in kayaks or even fish from the shore. It is a great spot to do some exploring just west of Fort Collins.
  • Love this place! Fantastic hiking trails, great fishing, and it is just beautiful. Close to town as well. If you're in the area, you should also check out Watson Lake just north of Lory.
  • Lot's of fun, park rangers are great & very helpful finding our other friends who came up before us.
  • Conveniently located just outside of Fort Collins, this park is a great place to spend the day. Waterfalls, tons of flora and fauna, and well maintained trails. Northern Colorado is the best!
