Wonderful family activity. Volunteers are knowledgeable and delightfully friendly. Nice little gift shop. Activity for all ages.

We went here because my husband loves anything trains. It has a nice train set up. It looks like a nice place to take young children and where the local train club might meet.
Fun for all ages, so much to see and learn in all of the details. The kids love the Thomas trains. Best of all it's easy on the wallet. A must if you have so e extra time downtown and have young ones that enjoy trains.
Fun place to take the kids. Especially if they are obsessed with trains like most small kids are. It's really just a large room with a great model train setup and some toys. So don't go expecting Disneyland.
Fun for kids about 10 since they don't allow anything for small kids. Then can play with you trains though. Engineering staff could be more (kids) friendly.
Give Credit Where Credit is Due.The previous reviews are correct it is a large model layout and pictures on the wall, but to give credit where credit is due, it is a small place. There a play area for toddlers, a new Lionel or O gauge Layout being built, children can operate the Layouts, there is a simulator that can be operated, and the volunteers there are wonderful, informative and very helpful. During the summer they operate a Speeder train in Bellingham. I would go there and try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Join them on facebook as they seem to keep things updated more now. Also after talking with them, they are mostly a volunteer organization so being open 25 hours a week is a tall order, give them a try.
Not much more than a big model railroad setup and some historical pictures of area railroads.
