Fontenelle Forest is an absolute blessing for Bellevue and Omaha. A pristine piece of nature with rolling forested hills and grassy wetlands, home to a diverse array of animals. I love this place.
Great park, lots of topography, flora and fauna to appreciate, established trails but also OK to step off the path and really do some excellent rough terrain hiking on the bluffs adjacent to the Missouri River
It's fun for my whole family!! My hubby & I and our 5 kids! 9, 7, 4, 2 & 5 months 😍 We hike the dirt trails (with our 2 youngest in carriers) or the boardwalk! (when we have the stroller(s) & less energy! Lol)
The boardwalk trail is gorgeous. You frequently see people just walking the loops for exercise. They are stroller friendly, too. The visitor center has great activities for the kids. And of course, the raptor area has many birds of prey that they have rehabilitated and house because they cannot be released back into the wild. Stop by here before leaving!
The forest smells fresh and the Autumn colors provide enchantment as the leaves fall around you while you hike. A great place to get away from the city and explore nature.
