You can visit any one of the facility's five studios to watch local artisans make pottery, jewelry, and blown-glass items, or drop by the food court to taste regional specialties prepared by some of West Virginia's finest master chefs. • We hadn't planned on stopping here, but glad we did. Even if you're not into Appalachian crafts, it's neat just to walk around for a few minutes. It's free unless you decide to buy something or get so...  read more »
  • I can't tell you how many times I have stopped here over the years. Every time I am within a 50 mile radius I start craving WV Rainbow Trout with green beans and mashed potatoes. And don't forget the ...  read more »

  • Stop HERE! Not the travel plaza, not anywhere else on the Turnpike. The Tamarack is a great place to stop for a good hot lunch and a bathroom break. It is kept extremely clean, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is always hot a tasteful. In addition, there is a coffee shop and ice cream inside as well. Also a great place to stretch you legs as you walk around seeing the "best of West Virginia."
  • THE Best place ever to stop! Art for every palate. Staff is wonderful! Great help for this wayward tourist.. as I lost my Drivers Licence while there and they contacted me out of country to return it! Bought some sauces and jams and gifted a wonderful cat sculpture from there. I will visit every time I come through Virginia! Special shout out to Mark Ford for your consideration in returning my DL Card :)
  • Much more than a travel stop! Various local artisan crafts from seasonal/holiday items to pottery, glass, wood and moonshine jam! The food court offers sandwiches, grille, and delicous homestyle meals! Don't forget the coffee!
  • Great place to stop! There's no reason not to have a meal here instead of fast food! Plus they recently installed outdoor art exhibits, and there's a tiny little playground for the kids. Get out and stretch your legs!
  • Tamarack is the perfect stopping point for our trips. Tamarack is a great place to stop and stretch you legs during a long car trip. We typically stop here for lunch. The food is really good and quickly prepared. After our meal a quick walk around the circle and back on the road.
