  • Wow, what a beauty on inside, and very unique on the outside. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit. They did an outstanding job explaining all the capitols LA has had and why.  more »
  • I've been here a number of times, both touring and for wedding related events. It's always interesting and beautiful. I always end up learning something new.  more »
  • Striking building with central staircase and stained glass ceiling. Free entrance. For if you still are in the area.

  • This old State Capitol has been well refurbished as a museum, stands nicely in the middle of downtown from the outside and is architecturally impressive all around. The permanent exhibits are surprisingly informative to people who are not well-acquainted with Louisiana's political history or the American voting system. Plan on visiting for one to two hours.
  • I'm glad we stopped here during our trip. The architecture is beautiful and the building has a lot of history.
  • I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!! The exhibits are so educational, you can actually hear the old governors quotes in their own voices, but there is limited staff and lots of construction. I would recommend visiting the state Capitol now first then come here and go early if you can because it gets really crowded really fast and it closes very early also bring some quarters for the parking meters and just warning you that you may have to park far away as for we had to park about a block or so away at the current Capitol and we had to walk all the way to there plus on a sunny day the sidewalks are crowded and the streets are busy plus on a rainy day the steps are slippery so you may want to come on a decent day with a little bit of both. The crowd is always horrible but there are some really good seafood places around so if you are a tourist or a local it will always be fun if you have never seen it before but beware there were some pickpocketers on the lawn hire a LISCENCED TOUR GUIDE because it may be hard to know what everything means especially if you don't have that know it al around or if you're not a know it all. FOR THESE REASONS,I HIGHLY RECOMEND COMING HERE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST OR EVEN A LOCAL!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
  • A beautiful building and museum. The stained glass ceiling is something everyone should see at least once. A great spot to bring out of town guests as well. Directly across from the river. It closes at 3pm.
  • I haven't ever been inside, however touring the grounds themselves is a thrill of its own. I visited in mid-March when the temperatures were still somewhat cool and enjoyable. I think this building truly embodies the suave elegance and eclectic culture of the early days of the Pelican State. Governor Bobby Jindal and the Louisiana government have done a fantastic job ensuring the preservation of this truly historic landmark and artistic piece of cultural history.
