  • This museum has done a tremendously good job depicting the history, culture and regions of this state. Worth taking the time to see if you want to learn about this state.  more »
  • Great history of the state, covers many topics & aspects. Best if you look at the guide first then try to go on the time line, based on the numbered displays. The displays were fairly close so easy to...  more »
  • This museum is actually a large window on life in Louisiana, its history, its inhabitants, its cultures. So awesome idea that I wonder why there is no us equivalent. Jazz, shrimp, oil, Cajun, Creole, french, English etc. everything goes. A lot of focus on the activities of the inhabitants. A bit of interactivity. In short, interesting, colorful, fun. One of the two museums not to be missed if you are in Baton Rouge with LSU rural life Museum. Visit about 2 h 30, $6. Close to the 'Capitol' where there are plenty of free parking. I was pretty much alone (true for pretty much anything in Baton Rouge).

  • I wish I could give this 6 stars. We weren't even planning on visiting this place, but a volunteer at the New State Capital suggested it. It might be one of the best Museum visits I have ever had. I don't even have much interest in the history of Louisiana, but this was unbelievable. Cost is $6 to get in, but it is more than worth it. They take you through the Purchase, through the various wars, Huey Long, Satchmo, life on the river, history of slavery and food production. They have a full size shrimping boat and combine. That is all on the first floor. The second floor is a walkthrough the various regions of Louisiana with details about the various music, festivals, celebrations, customs, traditions, languages, etc. It was so well done and put together. I can't compliment this place enough. We are planning a second visit because we ended up taking so much time in this place and we still felt we could have spent another hour. Go see this place. Amazing.
  • Great collection of Louisiana history and culture. The admission is very affordable. Parking close by is a little tricky but its worth the walk.
  • Hidden gem in Baton Rouge. Fantastic setting for events with stunning view of the State Capitol! Exhibits cover a lot of Louisiana's history.
  • One of the best tours I have ever been to. I went with my son's class field trip and it was priceless. I wish I would have had enough time to go up to the tower.
  • Was on a "take the 2 grandsons out for a day" little venture ... didn't even know this existed ... I had NO IDEA we had such a classy place in our state ... it is a MUST SEE if you have not been there !!!
