  • So, I've been to a few other gem mines in the area and we wanted to check this one out. We decided the night before we wanted to go to this one. We've always been able to just walk in when they first ...  more »
  • The first thing i will say is that the customer service was sub par, not as warm and welcoming as Foggy Gem Mining, however they did have a warm cool looking train that you can sit in while scavenging...  more »
  • We visited this gem shop July 2016. Clean and friendly people. The raw gems were nice and some were big. But I have many experience in this business. The raw stuff they had was not local as they claim...  more »

  • The staff was awesome, but we were very disappointed with our gem findings. Compared to other gems and bucket size (5 gal), they were small, very poor quality and VERY sparse.
  • We came near the end of the day and it was just my husband, son and me in the shop. At first, we flinched at the prices for gem mining because the smallest, the 2-gallon bucket, starts at $30ish, but thought, 'Wait, the other place we went, they gave us maybe a quart-sized pale and it was $12'. We got the 2-gallon bucket, the girl led us outside into a real, old train car that had the flowing water setup and as we went along, we found a lot of really nice raw gemstones! The girl went over the gems we found, which included ruby, emerald, amazonite, topaz, toumaline, apatite, sodalite, citrine, garnet, amethyst, a Mexican fire opal, and a lot of different colored quartz. All-in-all, my family had a fantastic time and my son can't wait to go back when we drive up to NC again.
  • Staff was extremely friendly , helpful and knowledgeable. 5 Stars all day long. Good finds too!
  • Don't believe what they tell you very bad experience ! If you find some rocks there don't leave them .
  • Best place to go panning for gems
