Geologic Formation
Stand at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint to admire the sights of the coast and the facial features on the massive rock protruding from the sea. From the viewpoint, look for the rock's profile as it seemingly gazes skyward. Take the stairs down to the clean beach for more views and rock pools to explore at low tide, but wear shoes with good tread in case of slippery areas. During your visit, keep in mind the Native American legend about the site, which tells of a woman's voice in the wind. Picnic tables and restrooms are available on site. • The view is always different depending on the weather. The viewpoint is very easy to get to see & restrooms are also available.  more »
  • The sun was going down and about 20 people armed with iPhones to fancy camera rigs were in position. So we got our phones out too and got some beautiful photos to remember it by.  more »

  • What can be said about Face Rock that hasn't been said? Amazingly beautiful beach. Miles and miles of beach. I recommend looking up when low tide is and checking out the exposed rock near the water. Just an incredible experience. Crab, purple and yellow star fish and other fish to look at as well as the massive waves crashing on the back of elephant rock (just north of face rock). Free parking, great for all ages. A warning though: it can get cold even mid summer. The wind off the ocean can get very chilly...great for kites though!
  • My daughter and I were visiting Bandon for an overnight trip and I decided to get out to the beach for a walk before sunrise on our second day and take some pictures. I was mesmerized by the beauty of this beach (I'm from New England and our beaches don't look quite like this) with the tide going out, the sun starting to rise, big waves crashing on the rocks...just incredible. A couple of hours later we both went back and, in contrast to the solitude I experienced earlier, the beach was alive with people, horses, and an artist creating sand art. An amazing place to take a walk, breath in fresh ocean air, and enjoy a spectacular view.
  • Beautiful, rocky coastal view on a peaceful beach. Bring your camera. Go at low tide for rock hunting, and wrap up well for potential weather. You'll have the most fun if you're prepared and willing to get wet. Was quiet on a weekday, and I encountered only a handful of friendly people.
  • Beautiful scenery and easy access to the beach. It's quite and not crowded. A great place to take your kids and dog.
  • Ample parking for RVs and cars. Beautiful scenery. Great for all weddings. Has year round access and rest rooms
