  • I took a group of students there. I understand they are making it larger, which would be nice, it was hard to get around . I learned some things I never knew. I'm glad they are going to improve it.  more »
  • Sure, people need to learn more about black history, but limitations of history destroys all truths.  more »
  • Our visit was the selection of the day of my 12 year old Little Sister. It was a wonderful two hours (because we read everything). The museum tells the story of Africans in America with aspects of the...  more »

  • This place gets to the heart of the quick. It doesn't hidden the truth about the cruelty of white enslavers, white supremacy and black resistance to all of it. It also highlights the triumph of the black spirit!
  • You would think for what information and education the museum offers it would be in a nice building with proper structure lighting bathroom facilities and display racks. But no, that's definitely not the case. The building is ran down. The display stand and the lighting are terrible. No ease of access for disabled persons and the space is so tight and small that only a handful of people can view things at a time. It is just simply raggedy in that building. City of Baltimore you should be ashamed of yourself for not investing in a suitable and sophisticated venue for our people to Educate and celebrate the history and Legacy of African American culture.
  • The wax figures are very well done. The history is excellent. You can learn a lot of history in 90 minutes with a self guided tour.
  • More persons definitely should visit to support this institution. I haven't been since a school trip and I got more out of it as an adult. I loved the exhibit documenting the histories of Egypt and Ethiopia. The museum does have its campy moments but I do find it to be a more nuanced and honest telling of the African diaspora than the Slavery+Martin Luther King=Obama narrative.
  • This is one of the most emotionally challenging experiences in life. Walking through the pages of time, seeing the struggles, as well as, the progression of Black people in spite of all obstacles, is very moving. This is something that should be experienced by all people, especially the youth.
