  • This place is packed with so much information regarding the birth of our nation, the Civil War, etc. Maryland history is national history. The building is beautiful, and you can get some fresh air in the courtyard.
  • Wonderful Museum we went on a "free admission " evening according to their website but they did not let us pass the door until one of us became a member. Maybe 1 day they will have a free visitor or dollar day like the other great educational institutions.
  • I'm glad we went, but it wasn't a peak experience. There were exhibits on the War of 1812 and the Civil War. There was a big exhibit of old furniture. There was an exhibit about Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte, who was briefly married to Napoleon's brother Jerome; she appears to have been the Kim Kardashian of the early-to-mid 19th century. There were photographs of Baltimore from the mid-20th century civil rights movement. It was all vaguely interesting but nothing grabbed me. If you want to learn about the War of 1812, go to Fort McHenry.
  • Just enough and not too much. Perfect sampling of Maryland history. Good for vacationers and locals alike. Great programs for homeschoolers...keep it up! :-)
  • Very good. Lots of history of Maryland.

Where to stay in Baltimore

For quick and easy access to practically all of Baltimore's major attractionswhile on holiday, follow the example of most tourists and stay near the Inner Harbor neighborhood. Few cities boast such a well-defined tourist district, it shouldn't come as a surprise that all the major chain hotels in the city are located right in this busy neighborhood.
