Take a train ride along the first commercial mile of railroad track laid in the country at B&O Railroad Museum. Built at the site of the oldest railroad station in the U.S., this museum traces the development of trains and displays an extensive collection of railroad memorabilia, a model railroad, and a working replica of the very first locomotive. Explore a historical roundhouse, observe what's happening in the engine shop, and wander through the gift shop to find souvenirs. With plenty of ramps throughout, the museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible. There is a play area for children as well as a snack bar. Train ride tickets for a short 20-mile ride are available for purchase on-site at the museum on a first come, first served basis. • Very great train museum with a large roundhouse full of trains. Big enough indoor section you could enjoy a day here in the winter. Tons of kids sections for lots of kid entertainment. There is a scavenger hunt you can pick up at the front desk and even turn in for a small prize at then end. There are also model train layouts my kids love. There are several trains you can go in and pretend to drive. One occasionally smokes and my kids actually think they are driving it!
  • Great museum! Great variety of different trains and my kids (10 and 3) loved children's area. It was worth the money and time spent. It was really interesting to learn about the different purposes of the trains they had and the history behind them. Overall, we all had an awesome time, we were the about 2 hours. I highly recommend the museum.

  • Great place to take the kids or if you are a railroad buff. We took our class of pre k , kindergarten and first graders for a train ride. They got to explore in the roundhouse and nearby buildings. It was educational as well as fun.
