  • Nice hike up theup the hill over the cliff then back down along the river. Beautiful view of the river from the top of the cliff. Watch out for bikers on part of the trail.  more »
  • We really enjoy hiking the various trails at this park. On some trails you must be aware of cyclists but we've found them to be careful and courteous trail mates. A small stream runs through the park ...  more »

  • For generations the Castlewood ridge trail was the best place to experience autumn within the St. Louis area. Sadly, I may never go back. Misuse, over-use, ignorance and disrespect have loved it to death. Mountain bikers don't stay on their designated trails. People leave trash, toss their water bottles over the cliffs. Teenagers climb out on the ledges and smoke pot. Dog walkers don't keep their dogs on leash. Trail runners race up behind you and scream, "TO YOUR LEFT!" and if you don't jump out of their way you'll be mowed down. And any sunny autumn afternoon or weekend is jam-packed with all of the above. Restrictions are needed to restore the quality of this precious site. Until then, don't bother.
  • I regularly hike the River Scene Trail. Some of the most beautiful views in Missouri. Moderate difficultly. If you exercise fairly regularly, you'll be fine. Pet friendly, leashed.
  • Great trails for walkers, hikers and bikers. Can be crowded on weekends. Past the railroad underpass for cars good number of mostly flat trails for those that don't like climbing hills and a beach with picnic areas. Under the walking underpass is lots of hills, Near the entrance lots of open fields Picnic areas and trailheads to steeper trails.
  • The park is in a good location with lots of natural scenic views. The parking lot is abundant, and there are restrooms as well as trash cans in the parking area. What I would like to suggest is recycle bins.
  • This is one of the best state parks in the area. It's right along the meramec river and has something to offer for everyone. There are large fields for events, pavilions, volleyball pits, playgrounds, creeks, mointain biking trails, horseback riding. You name it, it can be done here. My favorite trail runs along the cliff side over looking the river. I love this park and it is always my go to when I'm wanting a little nature in my life.
