I run marathons here every year. Love this park and the only way it could be better is if you could camp here.
The area sports alot of improved and unimproved trails. There are numerous picnic pavilions and other areas to enjoy the great outdoors, and close to home.
Nice and calm place to spend an evening or an entire day. Great view of sunset and the trails are amazing. River scene trail and lone wolf trail are 2 good ones. Options are available for fishing and kayaking. You may swim all by yourself where warning signs are not posted but be sure to do so in off seasons. The beauty of Meramec river is mesmerising.
Awsome trails for hiking and for bigginer MTB crown. Some great views and the creek us a great place to cool off. With a coupme play grounds and pavilions near by for the family to enjoy.
On a nice day you will find many people on the trials, hiking or mountain biking. And for good reason.... The trails are wide and offer good views. Parking is limited as is the playground, but if you came to hike or bike you won't be disappointed.
The park has some really good scenery and pleasant trails. If the park weren't consistently overcrowded, it would get 5 stars. Parking can be a problem and being able to enjoy quiet on the trails isn't common.
Castlewood is a great park to explore and congregate with others at. There are many different things to do and types of terrain to explore, from streams and rivers to very tall hills. Hiking, swimming and biking, dogs allowed too. However, it's usually pretty crowded.
