  • One of my favorite places to hike! The trails are wide and easily accessible. There are different types of terrain to explore and different length trails to meet your needs. I love the Deep Woods Trail for a walk through mature forest plus a trek along the lake. In the center, there is a nice place for children to play, exhibits and a birdwatching area. Relax in the many gliders on the porch or bring a picnic to enjoy in the great outdoors. You can buy hot beverages in the gift shop, perfect for chilly mornings. The bathrooms are always clean when I'm there. Be sure to bring along the parking fee. You pay on your way out, and the machine takes singles, fives, quarters and cards.
  • Beaver lake is beautiful and just the right length for a family walk. There are a few different trails but overall the main trail goes all the way around Beaver Lake. You can see a good variety of wildlife, and catch gorgeous pictures of the lake at sunrise or sunset depending on which side of the lake your on. There is a look out on one side with a telescope for viewing and benches periodically to give you a chance to sit and enjoy the scenery.
  • This is one of the best nature centers around the area. It has so much to offer. Trails to walk, and many other activities. I would recommend that you join. This will give you free entry as a member, a news blip 4 times a year and it will list all the activities for family fun. Not only entertaining but educational as well.
  • Great place to enjoy nature particularly if you want a relaxing time doing it or have small children. Has a number of trails from around a half mile to 3 miles, all the trails are wide and well maintained making it easy to walk alongside someone else and very few hills. There's canoeing and kayaking in the summer and snowshoes in the winter along with special events and educational pieces throughout the year. The center has something for everyone and parking is only a few bucks.
  • This is a really lovely place to come and get out into nature. There are numerous trails that are well maintained. Many trails have signs of Flora in the area so you can pick up a little knowledge on your trip. Something to be careful about. Make sure you have cash on you if you go. Getting in is free but getting out will cost you $4. There are recreational buildings that can be used during normal hours and I assume rented out for gatherings and events. A really nice place to take a stroll and commune with nature.
