Bal Harbour Shops, Bal Harbour
Categories: Gift & Specialty Shops, Shopping
Visit the luxury shops at Bal Harbour Shops, one of the few remaining family-owned malls in the United States. This open-air mall opened in 1965 on the former site of U.S. Army barracks and a World War II prisoner of war camp. Today, as you walk through the beautiful center, you can stop at a restaurant, and, of course, shop the boutiques of some of the world's most famous designers, including Chanel, Prada, and Valentino. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Bal Harbour holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Bal Harbour Shops and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Fuimos solo a ver que tiendas estaban ahí y nos encontramos con un mall no muy grande pero con buenas marcas...imposible comprar porque es carísimo. We went only to see that shops were there, and we have a not very large mall but with good brands... impossible buy because it is very expensive.show original
This place was great 5-10 years ago. It had a huge amount of top designer shops that have since closed. They haven't closed due to lack of business, but rather the mall owner's own insanity. He made tenants sign contracts stating they couldn't open up another shop within "x" amount of miles of the Bal Harbor Shops. This area encompased a huge amount of the greater Miami area. Needless to say the Miami luxury retail market has exploded in Aventura, The Design District and Coral Gables. The retailers here at Bal Harbor, faced with an ultimatum, decided it more beneficial to close their stores here when their contracts ended and have the ability to open shops at multiple outlets in the Miami area. You'll now see the closed shops formerly at Bal Harbor (Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, etc) with brand new stores in Aventura Mall and The Design District. The remaining Bal Harbor shops are slowly turning into obscure stores nobody has ever heard of and the majority of people don't want to shop at. The only reason I gave this mall two stars instead of one is because it has some great restaurants.
A mall that catered to the wealthy suddenly has lost its luster with the luxury boom in the design district. Many of the ultra high end brands have left but the regulars still frequent.
I like this place. Beautiful and functional. Most importantly, they do not tow away customers' cars like RK Centers do.
Parking is not free. This place is pretty clean they have most of the best retails stores .
Very expensive but a real Miami Beach vibe. Basically an awesome place to spend an afternoon shopping.
