  • You could spend a day here. So many things to see. Definitely take the 11am tour of 2 of the houses. It lasts about an hour and is so informative about early Bakersfield. Like stepping back in history...  more »
  • We went to the Kern County Museum. We liked the town layout with all the different buildings such as historic homes, dental and doctor offices, mercantile stores, the adobe and log houses, the jails a...  more »
  • The vast array of exhibits is outstanding. The oil museum theater is great. So much history. Love to take out of town guests here

  • It's a fairly small museum but well maintained. My friends and I were able to see and do pretty much everything there in about 4 hours. All exhibits are well presented and staff is always friendly. I definitely recommend it for young families and the elderly but I have been with several of my friends all in our mid 20's and still had an enjoyable afternoon. Due to great tree coverage even in our brutal summer time the heat is bearable.
  • I liked walking around and learning about all the different peoples that came to found Bakersfield. But, some of the plaques were too faded to read, and it would have been better if they had a guided tour. A really cool blend of older and modern buildings and unfortunately I did not get to see their new oil show. I would be willing to go back...gift shop was pretty cool, but card machines were not working so we could not buy anything. Was kinda limited though.
  • It was a lovely experience.. My youngest daughter even got married there.. It was a beautiful wedding .. I've always enjoyed the museum here .. Now I'm heading back there again today 👌
  • Fun place to see old bakersfield and to take the kids
  • A nice museum worth visiting to learn about a piece of American History.
