  • Went to three other wineries in the Brandywine area and this was by far the best. Even though the price is $20 , your wine is paired with cheeses, breads, and chocolate. Well worth the price. Loved th...  read more »
  • Great stop when touring the Brandywine Valley. Don't get drawn in by the more advertised vineyards in this area. This is good! and better then most local wines. And the pairing with local cheeses and ...  read more »
  • We had a lovely time at Va La enjoying a wine tasting and a jazz concert. For $20, you sampled "4 wines and a "splash" of a fifth wine." Each of the wines come with a food pairing and start off with a...  read more »
  • Not friendly at all. Paradocx and Ten Gallon Hat were fantastic. Va La on the other hand were snooty and rude. I'm very disappointed with their poor customer service. Arrived with 6 couples and were turned away for "being a group" despite having called ahead and discussing with the proprietor. Our ages are in the 40s and 30s so not a group of twenty somethings. We are regular wine drinkers and were surprised not just by being turned away but by the manner in which it was done. We immediately followed our visit by a trip to Paradocx and the contrast was night and day. They were welcoming, gracious, down to earth and have a gorgeous facility with terrific wine. I wish I can comment on Va La's wine but I can assure you I will not be returning.
  • Lovely experience. The mahogany was fantastic. The "white for red lovers" had an surprising difference in taste vs smell. Good, though! The tasting includes cheese pairings for each and a truffle at the end. Very nice!
  • This is my family's favorite winery in the area. They aren't cheap, but the wine is top notch and worth the price. Mahogany and Cedar are amazing.
  • We visited Va La this weekend and they had, by far, the best wines we've had from the East Coast. At first we were disappointed that the downstairs tasting bar was full, but we were sent upstairs where Doug gave us a one-on-one tasting and answered all of our questions and spent a good deal of time explaining the interesting and delightful history of Va La. He did a wonderful job and made the experience a lot of fun. The tasting room was beautiful and had a stunning view of the vineyard. The wines were paired with delicious local cheeses and breads. It was one of those unexpected moments in life that seems almost magical.
  • Great wines, great tasting with cheese and chocolate!
