  • Avon is one of the greatest areas on the outer banks, and I do enjoy fishing off the pier, but I cannot lie, that pier scares me to death. It is very wavy. Looks like it could fall down with the next ...  more »
  • This was my husbands first visit to the Outer Banks and first time pier fishing. Nice pier with extensive remodeling. Clean restrooms and well stocked store with rods, bait, snacks and drinks, etc. Fr...  more »
  • We traveled there last week to fish. The people in the shop on the pier were friendly and accommodating. Couldn't ask for a better mini vacation to fish.

  • Locally owned and operated. Also historical value. Very interesting shape Pier, not usual straight form. Caters to families, we like this!
  • I had awful experiences at the pier. First we bought some concert tickets which was from 7:30-10. Only we had to wait in line 30 mind to get in and over 45 mins for our first drink and then another 30 for the second. By the time we got our second drink the concert was almost over. Then we rented some poles to do some fishing the next day. Had a nice time fishing but when we were getting ready to leave a group of locals sitting behind the counter started mocking my son and I for thinking we could bring the poles we rented to the beach to fish. Kind of deceiving when they tell you that you can rent the pole for the entire day. Other places you rent poles from let you take them with you for the day. I'll find somewhere else to fish next year! And if you are going to a concert there definately have some drinks before you get there so you can enjoy the band you paid to see!
  • Must pay to walk on pier. Didn't have wallet with me. Under the pier + along beach was just as good to me!
  • Good Pier, knowledgeable local fisherman almost always around in the drum fishing section on the end. Recently bought out by Koru village. Good for steady bluefish and Spanish mackerel on gotcha plugs. Southern kingfish ('sea mullet'), croaker, flounder on shrimp or squid with bottom rigs. Sharks often on choppy days or at night. Many other species less frequently.
  • Great spot for sunsets. They've got fishin poles for rent which is fun. It's also fun to just walk it and see others bring in fish. Free if you keep your receipt from Pangea, which is right there and had awesome food.
