  • Zilker Botanical Garden is a treasure to explore, and great for kids as well as adults. If your children are school aged, this would be a great spot for fun biology and entomology activities! For everyone else, there are beautiful views every time of year, and it's a lovely quiet place to stroll, sketch/photograph, read, or bring tea (no picnics allowed though). Wear sensible walking shoes and note that not all trails are handicap-accessible. Admission is $3.
  • The park is huge and beautiful and it offers something for everyone: Lawn and shady trees for a picnic, pick up soccer games, sand volleyball, morning fitness groups, and plenty of room for dogs and people to run around and play. Lots of people use the rocks and great Austin skyline as the backdrop for engagement photos. Pick up soccer ranges from fun and friendly for beginners to competitive games for regulars. Parking can be tricky when the park gets packed. Bring your own food, frisbee, soccer ball, or blanket.
  • This place is a treasure to our Austin community. I used to love to ride the train with our kids when they were younger. Sadly we didn’t bring them as much as we should. Pack up the family and head out to enjoy this great Austin weather. Great for families and anyone. If you love dogs bring your dog.
  • Beautiful park with a lot of recreational activities. Love to canoe and Kayak on the lake. They have great walking/running trails. There's a playground for kids that my two year old loves. My only complaint is the traffic and parking, but it's a great place to visit.
  • Sand volleyball court turned into giant bonfire 🔥🔥🔥. Trail of lights, is something to experience at least once if you never have. Good for children, and adults. Good to go during the week to avoid crowds. Has a Ferris wheel $6, carousel $4, and tons of food truck favorites, and beer and wine to choose from.
