Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue, Austin

4.4
#46 of 178 in Things to do in Austin
Located at the intersection of Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue commemorates the American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Snap pictures of the legend, who was instrumental in sparking a blues revival in the 1980s and appears here with his signature electric guitar. Visitors often leave flowers (and occasionally clothing) at the foot of the bronze statue. Plan a trip to Austin easily and quickly by telling Inspirock to suggest an itinerary.

Little blues musicians have their own statue, if not for Stevie Ray. His image is located along the River in the park from downtown Austin Texas. Definitely worth a visit. Car parking nearby.

Quintessential Austin. This iconic statue on The Hike and Bike trail near the S 1st bridge stands tall and proud enduring Austin is bathed in his omnipresent rock and roll glow. Take a picture during a pretty day, but please don't get run over by the hikers or bikers. Seriously.

Love walking Lady Bird Lake when I am in Austin. Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the many highlights of this stroll. Only issue, there aren't enough public facilities.

I like this park, it's really nice come evening with low light and cool breeze. You can use the street lights to recharge your phone if you brought a cord and have a light with a plug on the button.

Where to stay in Austin

Austin bills itself as the "Live Music Capital of the World," so it shouldn't come as a surprise that many of its hotels sell out long before the city's popular festivals. If you wish to stay near downtown's live music scene, look for package deals and book your accommodations well in advance. If downtown clubs and bars aren't your priority, consider hotels located just outside the central part of town, in comfortable areas where you won't need a car to get to most of the city's major cultural sites.
