Where to stay in Austin

Austin bills itself as the "Live Music Capital of the World," so it shouldn't come as a surprise that many of its hotels sell out long before the city's popular festivals. If you wish to stay near downtown's live music scene, look for package deals and book your accommodations well in advance. If downtown clubs and bars aren't your priority, consider hotels located just outside the central part of town, in comfortable areas where you won't need a car to get to most of the city's major cultural sites.

  • This is certainly one of my favorite Austin places. Where else can you see beautiful peacocks who don't mind paparazzi? The lotus flowers and lilypads are beautiful in the spring as well. The trails a...  more »

  • This is a local non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving this park and the peacocks sanctuary that exists in it. It's a hidden gem close to downtown and you might even say its our own little "Secret Garden". The peacocks are gorgeous and the grounds are well kept.
  • There are some simple trails if you are wanting to hike but not leave the city. Plus the peacocks are always fun to observe. In the spring, the gardens are also quit beautiful!
  • One of the best park in Austin. A beautiful thing about it, is the moment you enter here there are so many peacocks wandering freely. They dont do any harm to you even if you click photos of them. This park also has one trail, which we still have to visit. When we went there first time we were so impressed and spent our time watching peacocks and garden maintained by volunteers.
  • If you love seeing and taking pictures of peafowl, this is your place! They have so many beautiful peacocks throughout the year. If you are here for the peafowl, park closer towards the entrance and walk towards the building/house. Within this area you will find the peafowl everywhere! If you want to hike, you can park towards the far end and walk the trails. The park is completely free and has it's own private parking lot.
  • If you love peacocks then this is your place. Plus a bunch of good walkin' trails. I wonder how long until they turn this into a stack of condos
