Independence Brewing Co, Austin

Brewery · Hidden Gem · Food & Drink
For the past 16 years Independence Brewing has served the Independent Thinkers & Drinkers of Texas. “Independence” is an invitation to come as you are and join an inclusive community of individuals united by a love of beer, Texas, and self expression. Our motley crew of 30 “black sheep” brew classics like Austin Amber, Stash IPA, and Native Texan Pilsner.

We call ourselves Grackles, aka the Black Sheep of Birds, because like grackles, our beers are loud, bold, and travel in packs. CAW!

  • Stopped by Independence Brewing on a brewery tour with the Wino's. Beer was damn good, with a great selection. They had a good sized seating area with more outside. Also had board games you can play.....  more »
  • Visited on a Saturday. This is a place to go socialize, drink some local beer, and listen to some live entertainment. They usually have food trucks that visit.  more »
  • Great brewery to visit, lots of tasty beers to try. Tour of the brewery was interesting. Heavy metal Christmas music was an interesting touch.  more »

  • We absolutely LOVE Indy! I actually can't believe I haven't reviewed them before. They have the best beers, and best crew pouring them. It can get a bit hot in the taproom...but hey we love Texas! Stash was my first IPA many moons ago and still a personal favorite. Cucumber Redbud is so delightfully light and crisp, great for them hotter days. Those Highboys are also pretty killer. Definitely visit the taproom for other beers not on the shelves. Cheers y'all! 🍻
  • The best brewery with the nicest people ever. I highly recommend the brewery tour! It does not disappoint. Dave is an absolute genius. All of the workers are so passionate about beer and they know their stuff. Excellent beer, cool space, and awesome people. Win win!!
  • Hands down the best brew in America if not the entire world. They have the best staff and it really shows when you taste their delicious brews for the first time. They are beyond passionate with everything they do and that's what truly matters in every aspect of life. I highly recommend this place. If ya don't know, now ya know..
  • Favorite brewery we visited while in Austin! Love the space and also really liked that they had shuffleboard! If you like stickers, make sure to ask, the bartender ended giving me a handful of them for free.
